Highest rated course ever?

So a buddy of mine just invited me to go play a course up near Redding CA, called Sevillano Links. Its designed by THE John Daly himself and has a set of tees that measures over 7800 yards and has a course rating of 78.0 with a 140 slope. The course can also be played as a par 90 with 18 par 5's and over 10,000 yards. Is that crazy or what?! This gets me thinking, what is the highest rated course you guys have ever seen? I look forward to getting destroyed and never thought I'd say a round in the low 80's would be spectacular.

Driver: Taylormade Burner TP (2007 model)
Fairway Wood: Callaway Steelhead III 4+
Hybrid: Sonartec MD 19
Irons: Mizuno MP 33s  4-PW

I just played Valhalla a couple weeks ago from 7540. Rating of 77.6 and a slope of 152. Extremely long and difficult course. That's the highest I've ever played. I believe the highest possible rating is 79, but could be wrong.

The higest that there is is Ocean Course at Kiwah Island,SC which is 79.6 with a slope of 155 it is ofically the hardest course ever.

I was going to mention this course. Too add to that, some people insist that the slope is higher than 155, but it is rated 155 because that is the highest it can be with the USGA system.

What does rating and slope mean?

I know they're used to gauge difficulty but how?

I'd guess Crooked Stick.

Crooked Stick is in Indiana I believe. Maybe The Preserve? Thats a private course in Carmel, CA and I've heard is extremely difficult.
