I know there are different techniques for a golf swing, but the way that I've been used to is to keep your head down and eyes on the ball through the backswing and follow through your eyes naturally go up. But yesterday we were at the golf course and someone was showing my BF how to swing and he said to keep his eyes on the toe of the club and NOT the ball.

I guess this is like solving a math question: there's 1 answer but yet there are TONS of ways to get the answer and it just depends on what works for you?

That's what I thought and that's how I've been doing it. But this guy is telling my BF to NOT look at the ball and to keep his eyes on the toe of the club?!?!!? And suprisingly, he was able to hit it that way...but I know for me, I need to keep my head down and eyes on the ball!!

Maybe for everyone its different? Who knows....

Keep your eyes on the ball. Always!

always keep your eyes on your ball but the head still thing is a myth.

Well thats what my old pro said. He said that it'd stop you making a full swing and focusing on keeping your head in place will make you hit a bad shot.

You can't hit something you don't see-at least no very well. Keep your eyes on the ball, some say back of the ball for most shots, others say front of the ball for irons.
Keeping the head still is important, now having said that, I want to mention that moving the head side to side normally is ok, moving the head up and down is not good.
I like to feel as if I am rotating around my head/spine.

there is a link to an older thread where some people mention watching the clubhead on the backswing and then back to the ball. i watch the ball not the clubhead, but once i make contact i have no issue looking up to see it fly. when i first started golfing i needed to make more of a conscious effort to keep my eye on the ball because it was hard to keep from looking up too soon. after a while it became engrained in my swing and i can look up naturally on full swings. the only time i need to concentrate a little more than other times is on chip shots. i still occasionally look up too soon on those and chunk them so i try to keep my eye on them moreso than full shots.

was that a real dog?
