I recently had my right hip replaced and was told by my surgeon that I could start playing again in mid January 2010.

I have been advised to use spikeless golf shoes instead of shoes with soft spike.
Saw the Etonic Mens G-SOK Underlay Saddle Golf Shoe online, but could not find my size.

Looking for an 11.5 wide in this shoe. I like the looks of this shoe and its tread.

If I cannot find what I want, what other spikeless shoes can you recommend?

I play in NB tennis shoes because my feet are wide and cannot get a wide enough golf shoe without paying a fortune. It WILL teach you to swing with a quiet lower body, but I don't consider this a bad thing.

Have you considered this?

I often play in sneakers as well, simply bc I hate my golf shoes and have been too lazy to ventured out to get new ones. Now that it's rainy season, I need to get some good waterproof ones though. You can definitely find sneakers that will be just as beneficial as spikeless shoes. Solid sole and base, with good grips. I wouldn't use running shoes or something, maybe something more along the lines of tennis shoes or cross trainers.

I play occasionally with Puma quills, can't remember exact model right now, they lock your feet to the ground just as well or better than spikes. I am assuming the doc wants your feet to not be so locked into position as you swing, I would look at some of the shoes that Puma offers that are spikeless. I have seen other brands that are spikeless but can't reccomend a specific shoe from memory, I love my Pumas so much I have quit shopping other brands. Maybe search e-bay for some ideas of what's available.

I saw these Etonic spikeless golf shoes online (Etonic G>SOK SPORT Golf Shoes White/Cocoa/Fudgesickle # GSS220-14) and they looked well made and sharp looking.

Anyone ever use any of Etonic's spikeless golf shoes?

I bought a pair of these this past season. I've gotten back into the game after a long layoff and when I last played regularly metal spikes were the norm. My knees never liked the metal spikes much back in the day and I didn't want to lay out the $ for plastic spikes to find out I don't like them so I thought I'd give these a try.

While they're not quite as "sticky" as the old spikes, I thought they did a good job in most conditions. Just enough traction to give you more sure footing than just tennis shoes. The price is pretty agreeable as well.

Try turf shoes. One of my friends' uses them insead of golf shoes. They're baseball shoes if you play on turf but they are perfect for golfing as well.

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Footjoy Classics professional are great. They are intended to be a teaching shoe but I wear them for everything, wearing a pair right now and if not for the snow and 30 degree temps I could stop at the club and play nine with no problem. They are a bit pricey but good shoes usually are.

Yes, I only wear Etonic G-Sok and they are the most comfortable and stable golf shoes I have ever owned. They have an excellent grip for spikeless! And the waterproofing is great. I live in upstate NY where it can get very wet and sloppy and These shoes have always kept my feet dry. And also, it sure beats having to change worn and broken spikes regularly! So you save money in not having to replace the spikes. IWhat I really like about them is that they are so great looking that I can wear them anywhere. I put them on before I go golfing and leave them on throughout the day after I finish playing and they are so durable that the soles hardly show any wear! But you better hurry up and buy some as Etonic has stopped making them! So, what you see on-line and in the stores is the last of them! You can go to some sites where these G-SOKs are selling for less then $40 now. Also, on most of the styles, the toe area is very generous, making these soooo comfortable!

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
