Hi,

Not 100% sure this is the right forum, but here goes:

Where in Florida should I go with some buddies for a Jan/Feb golf weekend?

Any suggestions of location? courses? places to stay?

Thanks!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I live here in Southwest Florida near Venice called Rotonda, it is a golfing community surrounded by six courses within a three mile radius, further out there are at least a dozen courses within a 15 min drive.

The problem you might have is finding somewhere to rent for a weekend at this time of year as this is peek season for rentals with all the "snowbirds" heading this way.

Just my two cents...

I don't know much about any particular courses in Florida, but have you considered Arizona? I know a group of guys (about 16) that go on a yearly trip to Florida in late January/early February. They've done this for the past ~10 years. This year they are changing to Arizona because they're tired of their trips being ruined by unpredictable rain in Florida.

I'd recommend Naples, FL. I go there every Winter to visit my grandparents for a couple weeks and they have some great courses. I've never played them because I just took up golf this Summer, but I went with my grandpa to a few courses last year and they were awesome. Can't wait to go down there this year and actually play them.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

I agree with the Naples suggestions. The weather in Orlando can be chilly in Jan/Feb so u want to be in South Florida...Forget Miami I live here and it's a pain in the ass. When my league does Guys Weekends even we go to Naples. The courses are plentiful and the city is nice & clean.

I frequent the Clearwater / Pinellas County area. I'm on the plane at Westchester at around 0800, arrive in Tampa just before 1100 and then by 1230 playing 18 for warm up practice at Largo, a muni. After that we try to get in rounds at Cove Cay, Clearwater CC, The Tides, Chi Chi Rodriquez, East Bay, etc.
If there's a chance of a weather issue we just check the BayNews 9 site and plan accordingly. If there's a chance of rain in the southern part of the county, we go north or vice versa.... but, we've rarely encountered rain and even when it does it's only for 5 - 10 minutes and the sun is back out.

Where in naples? My home course is Arrowhead. I think the best course to play down here for your money is The Quarry.

They live down the road from Naples Municipal Airport off of Radio Road.
