I tried out the Ping Rapture driver today. I tried the 10.5 loft in regular flex as that is what my G5 is. It worked well for me but not quite the trajectory of my G5. The guy at Edwin Watts said the Rapture Driver has a .370 shaft. Does the hosel diameter affect the driver. I know my G5 has a 350 hosel diameter. My question is if I got the Rapture and wanted to change the shaft, is there .370 graphite shafts available for drivers? I have never been one for bushings. Thanks in advance.

Smaller tips tends, not an absoulte,to be more flexible and helps square the face with a slightly higher ball flight. The variation is not usually as great as you would assume for average players. I can't speak for the 110 mph club, might make a bigger difference for them.

.370 is the standard size for an iron shaft tip, woods are usually thinner. You'll be able to find replacement shafts, but you'll likely have a limited selection.

I can't imagine that Ping would have produced a driver in today's market that would be challenging to customize. Come to think of it, I can't imagine Ping making anything at all that would be challenging to customize. I'm not a clubfitter by any stretch of the imagination but I'm assuming a bushing would act as a spacer to accomodate the difference between .37 and whatever the standard is. My thoughts would be if you like the driver, get fitted on a launch monitor with the proper shaft, and then order the club in that manner. Leave to customized shaft replacement to the manufacturer and they'll support it with standard Ping warranty (which my younger brother keeps insisting is the best in the business).

I used to have a Ping I3 14 degree 3 wood and a 17 degree Ping I3 4 wood. The hosel on that club was attached to the club head. If you heated it it would melt the hosel and the head would be useless. I had to re-shaft one of them and couldn't do it. I had to send it back to Ping.

I'm not a club tech, but couldn't you have had it drilled out? I think they have similar issues with clubs like the FT-3 Fusion from Callaway...

I would rather have it done right. I paid $175 for that club brand new and wasn't about to experiment on it. As a matter of fact nobody around here would even attempt it. I guess finally Ping did a training session on how to change shafts for club builders.

    • I have nothing to add other than I freaking love her swing and I think she's hot as hell and some of my golfing buddies disagree so I fought them
    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
