My current swing:

Thanks for watching my swing! Any help from the pros on here would be great. On the early holes, I usually have a problem pushing it right off the tee. It isn't until later in the round do I start hitting them down the middle. Make sure to watch in 720p, thanks.

Need to get a shot from the direct back, or from the side. From that view it looks like your ball placement is WAY in the back (as it should be off your front tow) and you can't tell a few other key factors.

  • 2 weeks later...

Lately, I have been pushing the ball right very often. This is probably due to me opening the club face as I take the club back. I'm not sure how to fix this naturally. Here's an example:

I think your to upright and have to much weight on the heels.

Your arms are to far out infront of you there, need them hanging down from the shoulders more.

Yeah you definetly open the clubface, your clubhead gets behind your hands to. I think this might be a counter to your very upright set up. I think if you get the weight more equaled out on the heels and the balls of your feet, also get your shoulders more over your toes at address and get the hands hanging down. Then you can concentrate on just starting the swing by rotating the shoulders first.

That looked like it finished a good shot.
I know a guy who hits a low stinger with his driver with a fade. But he still hits fairways. He shot 2 over par last week.

Shorten down the swing. You don´t need to take it so far to hit the ball far.
The longer your swing the more things that can go wrong.

Don´t worry about distance. Keep the ball in play and your scores will plummet.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have been trying to shorten my swing. Believe it or not, but I was actually taking the club further back then seen in these videos two months ago.

Lots of things but two to start with... In the first video it sure looks to me like your left hand grip is super strong with the label of the glove pointing skyward. In the second video in the first foot of take away you have already pushed your hands out and dropped the club under and behind. With those two starting issues, not much can be said from there, everything else is done to save the swing to something that will generally be in play. With that left hand, the hinge up is going to be off, and getting under and trapped means you will have to compensate to get back to the ball, which you do but it will not be consistent. Improve those two things then post a video.

I agree with the others about your takeaway. It seems a bit too handsy.

What course is that?

i can tell just from your practice swing you get to steep and come over the top which will cause pulls or slices.

It may be the video angle but something about your grip doesn't look right. I looks like your left hand is extremely strong. It almost appears as if the back of your hand is point to the sky at address.

- Hands should be lower and closer to you at address. There should be a bend in the wrists, so the club and arms are at different angles.
- You roll your forearms and hinge your right wrist to start the backswing. Read the deep hands thread.
- Read the filming your swing post for the proper angles when filming.
- And most importantly, why are you wearing a Penn State shirt if your alias is hokiebound?

It's actually one of the courses in Penn State haha. I wish the weather was 70 down here in Alabama like it is in Pennsylvania right now.

My number one choice is VT. However, I'm exploring my options. I'm a senior in high school right now. My family is full of hokies, however, I took a weekend flight up to Penn State (which explains the t-shirt, rental clubs, and lack of golf spikes). I loved Penn State's campus, and the golf course has 36 holes. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll be sure to revise and post another video sometime soon. p.s. Might go to the Boise State game!!!

It looks like the very first move you make is to roll your hands on the takeaway....I would cut that out in addition to what everyone has has said.

I agree mostly with what everyone else has said, but something else i would add is that you spend alot of time over the ball. And all the time you where behind it, you only quickly glanced once where you where aiming at. You need to stare that target down like it stole your girlfriend! Everyone is wired differently of course, but i tend to think once you step in behind the ball, it should be in the air less than 10 seconds later.

Ok guys here's some more videos, I took them right after school. I used mostly a lob wedge, then an 8 iron, back to a lob wedge, followed by the driver. I made some adjustments you all mentioned. I think my swing has improved as I hit a lot more nice shots. Let me know and thanks again

Sorry for my continued looking back at the lens, I was trying to make sure I was lined up with it.

It looks like the very first move you make on the backswing is to roll the hands (or forearms). That is making your left arm lose connection with your chest.

Imagine a guy sitting right behind you with a catcher's mitt and you are trying to put the head of the club in the mitt. This will help keep you from rolling your hands first thing. Try not to lose the connection with the left arm. You can work on that by putting a glove under your arm and holding it through the swing
