First off, I don't have the funds to get fitted at a shop since they cost at least $200.

I got a 2007 Burner TP head with a Tour Lite shaft and was thinking about trying out some budget shafts. Looking at the older UST Proforce 65 V2 or the older Grafalloy ProLaunch Red. I have a driver swing speed of 100-105mph. I liked my stock shafts that came in my 9015D and Adams Speedline even though they felt a bit whippy.

So please give me your thoughts on some budget shafts.

I happen to have UST Proforce V2 in my driver and Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue in my 5 wood. Profoce 65 V2 is a low torque (3.0 and 2.9) shaft, it's a very stable shaft even you have a quick tempo and smash the ball hard, a great shaft. While Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue (not Red) is pretty stable but boadier than the V2.

Saw it on GoldSmith that V2 is on sale now, it won't cost you more than $100 installed plus tax.

we are gonna need alot more info such as-

What do you like your ball flight to be like?
are you spinning the ball too much? too little?
Do you like to fade or draw the ball?
details man!

if your just going the cheap route, i loved my V2 for distance, that sucker was long...but i never could get accurate with it, just didnt like the feel of it in the lighter weights.

I hit a draw with the Adams Speedline and a fade with the 9015D. I would prefer very minimal movement in my ball flight. I am definitely getting more spin than I'd like. Right now I have a very high ball flight which I would like to come down a little bit.

I would do the ProLaunch over the V2...my experience. Never cared much for the V2 with my swing.

All the stock shafts I have been using are 60 grams. Should I be looking at the 55g or 65g Aldila shafts? Don't think I see any NV stiff shafts in 65g.

The Aldila NV is a great budget shaft at the prices you can now find it for. I have one in my hybrid, and it's a solid feeling shaft. For your swing speed, I'd be shopping in the 65g S flex... Having numbers from a launch monitor will obviously help narrow down which type of shaft to go with.

I was just fitted for my new driver shaft (see sig). If you can afford one, I highly recommend an aftermarket Motore with the HIT technology. This shaft fit my needs to trajectory, spin and swing speed while tightening up my dispersion and adding 10-15 yards over the Rombax TP shaft it replaced.

Golfsmith has the Grafalloy Pro Lanch Red 65 grams Stiff shaft for 39.98. I use Pro Launch Blue, great shaft, but it would produce too high of ball flight for you.

You can do what I'm doing. Waiting until you have the money and go get fit and get the right shaft the first time.

If you experiment with shafts its basically false economy. You can try a few shafts at $40 each and the feeling "is this the best shaft for me" will still be there and soon enough you may be over $200 without knowing if you have the right shaft for your swing and that head.
