After years of trying I finally received a letter saying I was picked to received tickets for the Masters practice round. I wound up getting selected for two tickets on Wednesday.

Anyone else get a letter yet?

No, I haven't received one yet. According to the voucher they send out when you apply for Tickets, people selected aren't supposed to be notified until September '10. Must have just rushed yours out! Congrats! Especially getting Wednesday tickets. That's the best day by far. I've been on Monday before and wasn't much happening although just walking the course is reason enough for the trip down.

I thought the waiting list was closed again or something? Did I hear that wrong?

It's not a waiting list but a lottery for practice round tickets. Every year I get a letter in the mail asking me how many I would like to put in for and for what days. It says on the letter that people will be notified in September like deronsizemore said. I guess they are ahead of schedule this year, or I just got lucky and mine came at the front of the list.

The waiting list is closed for tournament round tickets and has been for close to ten years now I think. You can still apply for the random draw for practice round tickets.

Is it too late to get in on the lottery?? How do I get in on the letter or what not? I was under the impression that it was all closed. I have a friend in the tool and die business. He does sales and one of his clients is a member there. He gets to go play the course every couple of years or so...I have been trying to get in on that!

Too late for this year. Here's how you can get in next year:

May i ask how much you paid for them? It seems, practice tickets are easy to come by on the inet if you are willing to pay somewhere in the range between 250-400 USD.

If you get selected for tickets to the practice rounds, you pay face value for them. I believe (or at least at the time two years ago when I was selected for Monday's round) that Monday is $35 per ticket, Tuesday is $35 or $36 and Wednesday (because it's the most popular day with the par 3 contest) is around $40 per ticket. Cant' remember exactly, but they are not expensive. The prices you see online are premium prices that people are paying simply because the only way to get tickets to the practice rounds is either know someone who will sell them to you at face value or you're selected in the random draw.

For how long have you been trying?

Congrats on getting the tickets!

It's $41 per ticket. I was selected for two for a total of $82. Not bad at all in my opinion.

Thanks. I'm not sure exactly how long, but at least eight years.

How many tickets did you apply for? Just two or more and they only gave you two?

Dang, eight years? This will be my third year applying and luckily I got four to Monday's rounds on my first try. Second year, no luck.

I actually only applied for two. I've always applied for four in the past and selected the "I'll take whatever you can give me" box.

Yeah, that's what I always do. I apply for four tickets to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but always check the "give me whatever you can" box as well.

You're lying and/or out of your mind if you're saying you wouldn't go play Augusta National.

honestly i would give a vital body part to play it if it was somewhere else under different managment or whatever. too exclusive dont let women play dont let anyone who is not a millionare play really. all the comments about tiger woods private life from the managment their. its all a load of bull really who wants it.?

the exclusivity of the whole play makes me sick. the first tournament i ever saw was 96 masters and i loved it the more i learn about how its almost gaurenteed i will never play their make me dislike it. im not an expert and i live in ireland so im really only making this opinion on what iv been told from other people. iv no problem with courses being private but at least if it was possible for someone who really wanted to get a round they could at some stage. i was told that cypress point works something like this its private but if you try really hard you ill eventually get a shot.? anyway im really against the exclusivity of golf and the manner that the courses are run and the people that run them conduct themselves.to me the masters is the worst major on the best course.

So are you referring to the tournament or the course? If I owned the course and I had no money issues whatsoever, then I wouldn't care if it was exclusively private or not. I mean, your number one priority is the happiness of the members that keep you open for business. That is where your exclusiveness comes from. I have a friend that plays there every couple of years and he is no millionaire. With a course like that, you can't just let every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the place. I see how many of the every day golfers treat a course while they are playing it and I wouldn't want those guys in there either. They will end up costing the course more than they recieved for allowing them to play. I don't see it being a harsh thing really.
