Golfshot looks sick. Its my birthday too but 've already made my unlucky GF pay for all osrts of golf crap so I went with a $2 skydroid. Hows it work Mike? I mean what does it do? It doesnt do isht unless you're on the course so is it just a gps, just scoertracker and stats?
The skydriod webpage sucks too if you look up a specific cousre it gives you x's instead of yardage. I don't want to pay $29 to find out I have to map them or there are no numbers.. ¿

it provides yardages to bunkers, water hazards, pins, front, middle back edge of greens.etc. if there is an aerial view of the course you are playing you can switch between the yardage screen and the aerial view of the hole you are on. you can also zoom in on the greens with the latest update available. on the aerial view it will put bullseyes on the course from the yardage screen so you have an idea of where that is on the course. i love this app.

I've been using this on my iphone since it was first released. Awesome app for sure but as with any iphone app using GPS, it's a battery hog, so i only use it to keep my scores and stats. I use a garmin approach for GPS. I would also recommend the GolfPlan app that pulls in stats from the Golfshot app and compares your stats against the average for your handicap and tells you what you need to improve on and provides drills for those trouble areas.

In my Mizuno Aerolite IV Stand Bag:

Driver: Titleist 910D2 (9.5°, RIP Alpha 70S)
Wood: Titleist 910F (15°, RIP Alpha 70S)

Irons: Mizuno MP-68 Irons (3 - PW, C-Taper S+), Mizuno MP-33 2 Iron (C-Taper S+)

Wedges: Vokey Spin Milled (56.11 - Bent to 54°, 60.07 Tour Chrome, C-Taper S+ DSS)

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 (34")

Ball: Titleist Pro-V1x

GPS: Garmin Approach g5

Most useful training aids (for me) that I use: Tour Striker Pro 7 Iron, Swingyde, Tour Sticks alignment sticks, Dave Pelz Putting Tutor

Just downloaded the app, thank you for the heads up!

i just ran out to the parking lot quick and started doing screenshots on my iphone. i didnt wait for it to acquire a signal.

i agree ERdiesel thats why i purchased an external battery case:

http://www.mophie.com/product-p/1059_jpa-ip3g-blk.htm and now i dont have to worry about my battery running dead. when it starts getting low i just flip the switch on the bottom of the external charger and vowla my phone is charging again. i could probably get another 18 in before it went dead.

I have skydroid and just recently purchased golf shot, skydroid locks on much quicker and auto advances holes but golf shot is on another level with
the stats it keeps, both are very good with battery life, had 60 percent of my battery after 18 holes today, just hope they add auto hole advancement.

Been using Golfshot all year, but does anyone here maintain an official USGA handicap that they can compare to the one it spits out? I've only shot one round under 10 over par, but it's saying my handicap is roughly 7.8 which seems waaaay too low for what my scores say and my personal feeling towards the quality of my golf game lol.

SKydroid is not as advanced with all of the stats that golfshot has, but Skydroid will give you distances to bunkers, green locations auto advance to hole its pretty accurate as well. I have tested it vrs other iphone apps and golf gps units. They are all with in a yard or so. Id like to get the golf shot one for the stats. But for 1.99 Skydroid is very useful. Has every course I have played at so far.

Is Golfshot better than the Golf Logix app ?? same price but just wondering what the difference in capabilities are between the two,??? Also, for anyone that wants a very simple accurate free app for the drios, download the Freecaddie app... I have used it twice and it's pretty good considering its free

Putter = T.P. Mills

I'll stick with the $1.99 Skydroid. I've created/enhanced/fixed several courses in the skydroid database & it worked great. Can't do that with Golfshot, it has to be requested.

Any time I've requested any updates or changes to my courses, theyve been done within the day, or maybe 24 hours. I'd say theiir support system actually works quite well.

I like some of the golf stats that Golflogix has more, like the putting stats where it keeps track of misses, in what direction, from what range. That I think its actually kind of interesting/important, but other than that, I've not really noticed too much of a difference, other than Logix gets commercials and golfshot doesnt :P
