I am looking at new putters now, and I really want a high-quality, long-lasting putter. I was really looking for a milled face. I found two putters that i really hit well: The Scotty Del Mar, and The Odyssey tour series #9.

I currently have a Rossie blade, and can tolerate how it plays, it just doesn't feel like it pops off the face, like a milled face, and I don't putt very well with it. it kind of is like a club that i just don't really value having in my bag, like i should.

The odyssey was my initial thought, and I hit it very well. It would be a great replacement, and they have a demo'd one right now that doesn't have a scratch on it at my local golf mart.

The scotty kind of appeals to my inner putter "Snob" but it also hit the ball very clean, and i like the adjustable weight feature. Also, I have heard that they retain value well, and can be sold off up to 10 years down the road.

What kind of answer are you looking for? Some people will say that nothing feels like a Scotty and blah blah. Pick whichever one feels better to you. I would go for the Odyssey, simply don't like the look of the Del Mar and the color of the finish.

I would go with the Odyssey as I think they make nice mallet putters. I like the black finish better than the gold, and I think the Del Mar is a little bit chunkier than the Odyssey. I had a White Ice #9 and I loved the shape of the head and the flow of the neck. Truth is, you can't go wrong with either one. I would vote for the Odyssey.

Both are good putters and it comes down to personal preference. I think that the Scotty is beautiful... I really like the look of the California series. That being said, the Odyssey is very nice as well. If you can get the Odyssey cheaper and you like it just as much, go with that.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

i picked an Odyssey for a few reasons

like the White Ice insert, less loft than a Scotty, heavier weight as mine is the 355gm one and it was half the price of a new scotty (already been down the SC road too)

put hey....its ur buy, good luck w ur choice!

I went through the same exact decision. I really liked the design of both putters, but I really felt the Odyssey more when I was putting in the store. I also LOVE the black finish. I ended up picking up the odyssey for $150 off eBay and couldn't be happier :)

Both are very similar. I think the weighting makes a big difference, as does the face depth and blade length differences that are either actual or perceptible.

I'm getting my dad a #9 for X-Mess as I have a line on one. With that being said, only self-control kept me from buying a Del Mar yesterday as I'm ready to ditch my spaceship putter because, although it's great for alignment, I can never get the pace the way I want it. I need something with more feel and a less bulky, weighty performance factor.

Current Gear Setup: Driver: TM R9 460, 9.5, Stiff - 3W: TM R9, 15, stiff - Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Black, 18, stiff - Irons: Callaway X Forged 09, 3-PW, PX 5.5 - SW: Callaway X Series Jaws, 54.14 - LW: Callaway X Series Jaws, 60.12 - Putter: PING Redwood Anser, 33in.

I have a Del Mar that I use from time to time. Great putter, great feel and looks great. I will say though the honey glaze finish or whatever it's called gets worn off really easily. I used this putter for about 2 months this summer and honey coloring is almost completely off the bottom of the putter.

Good putter though.

I can't compare it to any of the Odyssey putters, I haven't with one of those in years. I normally don't like their inserts but I know they've done a lot to improve them since my old two ball came out.

I think you'll be fine with either.

Irons: 4-6 AP2 - Project X 6.5 / 7-W MB - Project X 6.5
Wedges: Scratch 1018 52/56/60 KBS Tour XPutter: SC Button Back Newport 34" / SC Del Mar 34" / SC SS Newport...

If you like the looks of the Del Mar or the #9.......try the Slotline SSi-693

At 360 gms, it is heavier than the other mid-mallets, allowing for a super smooth stroke. The insert is a soft aluminum that adds to the feel.

Austad's Outlet listed the Slotline SSi-693 last week, not at the msrp $179.95, but at the ridiculous price of $59.98!

For that price, you can't find a better putter!

Mallet?

This is a "heel shafted toe weighted flanged blade". It may sound like marketing mumbo jumbo, but I've putted with true mallet putters (most notably Ray Cooks) and this ain't no mallet.

I'm sure the Slotlines rock, but finger . . . inching . . . toward . . . "this post is spam" . . . button.

Bump. This is the exact thread I was looking for. I think I need to switch to something longer. In terms of length, my putter feels perfect when I'm standing barefoot, but too short with shoes on (plus orthotics) and given my height (6-0). I actually had to order a 35" Del Mar because RD and GS didn't have one to demo. It just arrived, and I'm not a fan of the deep face. Probably going to go with the Black Tour #9 because I do like the milled face. Anyone currently experiencing a similar issue (especially lefties)?
