Picked these up @ Play It again Sports for $107. Need new paintfill and grips as the pics below show. I was going to post before, during, and after pics due to winter boredom!

Before

During.

I think I actually prefer the "naked" look. I was going to leave the sunburst logo alone, but I plan on doing the iron numbers in red and the lettering in blue. The yellow of the sunbrst just isn't going to look good IMO. I now plan on changing the sun to blue as well and the BH in the middle to white. I will post more pics as I go along

I will try that. This is my first attempt at paintfill, but it really wasn't that hard.

I did a couple. One in light blue and one in a darker blue. Can't really decide which one I like better.

You got a good deal, I've been searching around for a used Hogan or MacGregor set. The darker blue looks better IMO.

Neither blue looks very Hoganesque, but if I had to choose, I'd go darker.

Not a fan of the blues, but darker looks better. I prefer black. What paint did you use ? My 3i needs paint. I have the original grips on mine as well. : P

I did three more. One all "murderedout" ( I guess that means all black??) Not working at all IMO.

I did one with the iron number in red and all lettering in black except the Hogan signature on the back in white. That isn't looking good either.

I decided to just stick with the stock colors! Red numbers and black lettering. Very Hoganesque I believe, is how SM put it. LOL

This one still has some blue I need to get rid of on the sole.

I just picked up some black to redo my Hogans. I am going back and forth to go all black or keep the numbers red. Going all black at first and see how it comes out. Yours looks good.

Depends on the vintage. A set of PCs in anything but one colour (preferably all black) would look odd. A set with the starburst BH logo offers a little more room for personal flair. I'd still stick with the hues (shade and lustre) of red, gold, and black, but that's just me.

I agree and have decided to go the classic look of red number and black lettering. I do have two questions for people who have done this before. First, how long does it take the nail polish remover to take effect on the paint? I used a Q-tip and after 5 minutes it did not even soften the paint one bit. Second, after paint fill do you wipe off excess right away or let it dry a little? Much appreciated

This was my first time, so my results may be different than someone that has more experience. The old paintfill just popped out without using any polish remover. I bought a pick set (in the clay sculpting section) from my local hobby lobby that worked well for removing the old stuff. A toothpick worked as well, but not quite as good. I tried the polish remover first as well, but I found it actually made the old paintfill gummy and harder to remove. When I removed my "trial" colors of new paintfill, I scraped out what I could and then had to use the polish remover to get the last little bit cleaned up nicely.

As far as wiping off the excess I did that right away and had good results. I used a playing card cut into strips as a sort of squeegie. There would still be a fine film of paint left around the letters or numbers. I let everything dry overnight and then wiped off the film with a dry paper towel. Post up some pics when you're finished. I finished filling in all the black on mine tonight. I will get some pics probably over the weekend. NOW for the grips...................... That will be a first for me as well. I got a quick lesson today when I bought my new grips. I asked for seven New Decade Multicompound grips in red and the guy took me to the "clubmaking" room where I got a quick lesson in grip removal and replacement. One of the exact reasons I go to and support the smaller golf shop. They go above and beyond. In one way the guy giving me the lesson was taking $$ out of his pocket, but on the other hand he is one reason I will not hesitate to go back to spend more $$. Clamping the club may be an issue as I don't have a fancy club clamp and don't even own a bench vise. I do have some rubber coated clamps I used for hanging cabinets. I'm sure I can make something work.

They look really nice. Bought the wrong red. Did one iron last night and the color came out more on the pink side than fire engine red...back to the hobby shop for me.
They are awesome. I love the look and feel and they are still in great shape. I wants flighted Project X shafts. Might buy them off eBay and do them myself.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Regrip complete.

Stripping the old was no biggie. Took about 35 minutes to completely strip 7 clubs. An exacto knife did the trick as I wasn't worried about trying to save the old grips. I had read where a heat gun had to be used to take off olf grip tape in combination with a scraping device of some sort. Not in this case becaue the old tape peeled right off. Next I went to golf galaxy and bought one of those $2 plastic club clamp/guards. In addition I used two old clamps from my finish carpentry days. Here is a pic of my hillbilly ingenuity. Pictured is an old 2 iron I bought the other day.

I also bought precut double sided tape strips and solvent. Sliding on new was no biggie either, although not making a mess with the solvent is the biggest trick. An old paint roller pan on the floor under the club did the trick for the most part. Voila......

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
    • Perceptive rules question by caddie unlocks Tour pro’s ‘dead zone’ relief A perceptive rules question by Xander Schauffele’s caddie, Austin Kaiser, unlocked “dead zone” relief during the Wells Fargo Championship.
    • I ran across an interesting new clip, Johnson Wagner went into that spot with the Referee who allowed the relief.  Apparently there was a perfectly reasonable shot to be made, as Johnson clearly demonstrated, so relief from the TIO was perfectly appropriate.
