When the R9's came out I bought a SuperTri and give her my 07' Burner. Although she hits it fairly well she seems to hit the shorter fairway woods better. I would like the opinion of those that has handed down clubs to the misses or the fitters out there. I am 6ft and she is 5'-9.5" (with a 85mph swing speed). I would like her to be able to get the most out of the driver so I dont know if I should do like I did with the Burner and just give it to her and say here hun....do your best with what I give you or have a pro shop fit it for her. When I bought my R9 irons we carried in my old irons into Golfsmith and she hit those pretty well and they only recommended I put in a "R" flex to replace the "S" shaft I had in them. My SuperTri has a "S" shaft already in it....should this be fine for her?

Thanks for your input

Tim

I was going to give the wife ( who also happens to be 5'9" to my 6'3" ) my old burner irons until I read Maltbys word on irons

http://www.ralphmaltby.com/96 and I decided to get her a set of womens clubs since what she has now is mens hand me downs.

I look at it this way, the more she enjoys the game the more I enjoy the game, and that is worth the price of admission.

not sure how Maltbys concepts relate to drivers, but at a bare minimum i would have the correct shaft put on the R9 for her.

oh and ,  when is the R11 due out ?  I to am eager to give it a go.

When a company makes a club in the USA I will proudly display their brand here. All of mine were made in china by somebody making $2 a day. Shame on you Mr club manufacture.

Take her and get her fitted for a shaft for it.  That is part of the beauty of the r9 line.  They should be able to order a shaft in the correct length and flex for her.

Why are you getting the new one while she gets the hand-me-down again? It sounds like money's no issue so why not get her one fitted for her swing? That might be just a new shaft in the '07!?!?

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.
