High bounce wedge

My vokey wedge has 12 bounce, and I have trouble hitting a full shot with it from the fairway.  The best way I can describe the shot I usually hit is that the ball just comes off dead.  It almost feels like i slide right under the ball (which I know is not the case).  I am not hitting it fat, and when I hit other wedges I can hit a full shot with no problem.  I dont really have the same problem with pitch shots for this wedge.  Is it the high bounce that is causing this problem or maybe that the grooves are worn out (it is an old wedge)

12* is a good amount of bounce. What do your divots look like?

It could be your swing...trying to get everything out of a SW can sometimes result in getting less than what you are looking for.  Try hitting shots at 50% and work up to "full" which will be closer to 85-90%, not 100%. From a clean lie, the grooves have little effect and if the club is interacting with the turf appropriately it is not the bounce.

Old wedges with worn grooves COULD be a factor, but doesn't sound likely. Are you making a divot at all when you hit it? If you're trying to hit it hard or coming under it too much work on hitting down on it a bit more. I sometimes have this problem, when I try to pull to much out of it, and I wind up getting under it too much, thats when I pop it up too high and loose some yards off it. I have stopped trying to "reach" with a wedge, ill just go one wedge down and hit it easy instead. Could just be your wedge doesn't fit your swing well. I went thru a few wedges before I finally found some I liked and that worked with MY swing.

Thought dawns on me:  old wedge, had 12 degrees of bounce or has 12 degrees?

I knew it was time to swap out my MP wedges when I had the bounce on the 56 measured.  When I bought it, it had 14 degrees.  When I got rid of it, it had 6.  30 months, with plenty of short game practice (and missing my share of greens) had done it in.
