I don't carry a FW wood at the moment. I've added a Tour Edge Exotics CB2 16° hybrid to my bag to replace my 3W, which I virtually never used. I hit it today at the range, carrying about 220 yards. If I can do that on the course, I have no need of a 3W.

I play the R7 St. It's so easy to hit of the fairway with the shallow face.

One vote for a Nickent 3DX hybrid, solid stick.

904F. When I first got it I was worried it would be a little too tough to hit. But I was very wrong. Easy club to hit, feels great, and has some forgiveness. I went with a 17* because the 15* actually seems to go a little too far.

i have an old school big bertha, war bird sole plate, strong three. i don't plan on changing it out anytime soon. three woods are like an old pair of shoes that fit well and are very comfortable. you find one you like you hold onto it.

I have three fairway woods: 3,5, and 7. I am not long off the tee, and often hit fairway woods on my second shot on long par fours as well as several par 3s on my home course. I use the Callaway Hawkeye VFTs that I purchased with my first set of clubs some years ago. I bought a Callaway X 3 wood last year, thinking that the shallower face might be easier to hit from the fairway than the larger Hawkeye. For some reason, I never got comfortable with it. Maybe it is the shaft that causes me problems, I'm not sure. I'm going to take it back to the range this season and continue to work with it and, perhaps, it will find its way back into my bag. I really like my Hawkeye 5 and 7 woods, both which seem to have proportionally smaller faces than their Hawkeye 3 wood brethern. I have not tried the TaylorMade fairway woods which many people seem to like. I did try a Titleist 904 wood last spring at a demo day and did not hit it well. Many people at my club appear to like the Ping G5 woods. They look as though they have a rather large face compared to the Callaway X and TaylorMade products.

I like to tee off with my R7 Steel. The low center of gravity makes it easy to get in the air.

I like the Mizuno Mp-001's. First of all, they are composite, so the shallow face, and lower center of gravity gets the ball up very easily. I also prefer their nice "click" at impact as opposed to what some other clubs sound like.

I have a couple of 3 woods in regular use. The one I use most often is a TM V-Steel at 15*, it has a nice high flight and lands quite softly for me which is good for my home track and a few others I regularly play. The other one is a Sonartec SS-3.5 at 14* that I use on courses that either have very long par 5's where you just bang away with your second with no chance of carrying it on to the green or courses that have a lot of very tight driving holes where distance is still a factor. Both of them are fitted with DG SL S300's and are cut to the shortish length of 42.25". Back when I started playing 42" was pretty much a standard 3 wood length, it's only in the last 10 years or so that they've gone up to around 43". The Sonartec goes about 15 yards further for me than the V-Steel but with a much flatter trajectory.
