Medicine Ball workouts....

Hey all.  I just have a quick question that hopefully I can get an answer to...

I have an 8lb medicine ball sitting at home, and am wondering someone can help me incorporate it into my workouts. I saw an episode of school of golf with Tom Kite a while back where he was using machine weights to almost mimic the golf swing. I can't find the video now to refresh my memory, but I am thinking that I could somehow incorporate this medicine ball into that motion in a slow controlled manner. Any thoughts or ideas? Currently my daily fitness routine is very golf oriented and I would like to keep it that with with the addition of this medicine ball. Thanks in advance.

maybe taking the ball in 2 hands each on the sides and hold it down where you would be gripping the club and slowly mimic a golf swing especially wrist wise.  so when you take it back put your left hand over right and on the downswing, rotate right over left....im just thinking of this off the top of my head but it will probably work

Actually, I am already doing this. I found a video on Golf Channel that was of Tom Kite using machine weights to mimic the golf swing, both back swing and follow through. Basically I just substituted in the medicine ball for the machine weights and focus on control and use high repetitions, as the medicine ball is only 8lbs. Thanks for the response though...c2_beer.gif

Check out the Titleist Performance Institute website.  They have a lot of exercises there.

I have a hard ball and a bigger soft ball, also have a slam ball. I don't get hung up on trying to mimic a golf swing as much as using the balls to develop speed and core strength. I do quite a bit but my fave with golf in mind is side throws. Really good for increasing rotational speed and balance. I do it with one of the guys at work 3-4 times every other day.

Russian Twists are a great exercise that works with a medicine ball. Here it is:
