Ok, that looks awesome. Anyone got any more info? The website has nothing on it http://www.ernestsports.com/

Is it a stand alone unit or is it a cradle your iphone sits in?

Dunno I haven't been able to find any info either but looks like its a standalone unit.  Hopefully it has a good price point.  THe GC2 and trackman are way over priced for what they do.  Someone needs to create something like this at a reasonable price normal people can afford.

I found this on another forum, sounds promising but I'm not getting my hopes up. If it works the way they say it does then at $200 I can see this being very popular!

Quote:
I was able to get a bit of information on this product. It is currently in the approval stage with Apple. They have written the code and are waiting for Apple to sign off. Once that has been completed, hopefully prior to Christmas, they are wanting to have a pre-launch of the product.
The unit itself will run$199.00 plus tax. The price gets you the unit and the app that will be down load to you Apple devise. If you have a blue tooth device that works well with your iPhone 3Gs, 4g or 4gs then it will work with the device. If not you may have to purchase a new blue tooth headset (AD2P Compatable). After the initial release, they are planning on releasing for droid based phones.
In terms of accuracy they have been testing this against Trackman and Flight Scope, I was told the data collected to this point is not official but it's with in 2-3 yards in accuracy. More testing is to be done but that is what I was told.
Feedback from PGA club pros has been very positive and they will be doing an official launch at PGA Merchandise in January. If you want to kept up to date send an email to info@ernestsports.com and they will keep you in the loop as far as launch dates and information pertaining to the device.

I fail to see how this is any better than the radar you can buy today for $99. I know another company (I think it was swingbyte) had something you attached to your club which would track the club.  If it works and is under 300 or so I could see that being pretty revolutionary. I could be wrong but I have a feeling that things like K-Vest and the rest have about 50 bucks of parts in them so if they could get the volume up so that they could spread the development cost around have these type of things prices reasonably seems possible.

I was just reading up about this the other day after seeing an ad on tgc. I didn't find anything hat looked particularly authoritative, but did find some chatter in forums and the like. The idea I got from those were that it measures ball speed only, not spin, not launch angle. So you tell it what club you're using and it makes assumptions based on that and ball speed alone.

So kinda cool but probably not any earth-shattering info, huh?

I think that without spin and launch angle it would be impossible to get an accurate number.

Alright, this is somewhat off topic, but not.  As I watch the video and look around :18 into it when three golfers are lined up.  Look at the middle golfers grip/hand position.  Is that strange to anyone else?

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
