Anyone make their own "Sensicore" inserts?

I saw online where someone took a McDonald's plastic straw, wrapped some thin foam around it, and then pushed it down the butt end of the shaft - similar it to the Sensicore inserts Golfsmith offers. Doesn't seem to difficult to make.

My first thought is that someone has too much time on their hands. I am not going to put a McDonald's straw with some pipe cleaners around it down any of my shafts to save a few bucks.

Where is Shorty on this one?

I get it. I was more thinking about the guy who made the initial discovery. Don't get me wrong, I love to tinker with my equipment, but this is one area I never thought of. I will stick to grips, lofts and lies.

I read somewhere about using strands of insulation to make Sensicore-style inserts. I was unable to find the link.

      Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
