So I have never made a hole in one.. well I did on a par 3 course that was 40 yards but I dont count that. I get into the conversation sometimes on whether or not I would rather make a hole in one or double eagle. I couldnt decide.

On the 2nd of this month I was on hole 13 at Stonebridge Dye. Piped a drive down the middle which left me 261 to the flag, a little breeze and a touch uphill to a tucked pin.Ripped at 3wood just right of the pin... couldnt see the hole sadly. Went up there and found out I holed it out! So pumped! haha finished with a couple more birdies to shoot a 67 and couldnt have felt any better.

Just thought Id share!

Anybody else out there ever made a double?

I've made 2 hole in ones. On May 9 three years ago playing the 16th at Crofton Country club hit my drive down the center and smoked a 4 wood to a front pin and watched it go in. The funny thing was we were playing a stabelford and didn't know how to give it a point value as an eagle was the most anyone had ever gotten and that was extremely rare. I'll take the double eagle over the ace any day.

  • 3 weeks later...

Congrats brother!  Still waiting for my first alby!  Finally broke through with my first hole and one.  Got it a couple months ago on a 320 yard par 4.

If you aced a par 4, that's a double eagle or albatross.

CONGRATS!!!

I've never had a hole in one but did have a double eagle/albatross July 4th weekend on a Par 5 at the incredibly tough Eagle Ridge course at Yatesville KY. I was and still am stoked about it...., it felt awesome!!!

God Bless!!! Ray

lol If you really did that and didn't realize that's an Albatross and technically an "Ace" all in one, you're going to be celebrating hard tonight I hope. That's the holy grail in golf if you ask me and I would have slept with that ball with a Crown Royal smile on my face.

Thanks Ray! Congrats to you as well. How far did you have in?

I made a good drive on the Par 5 and was about 210-215 from the pin, hit a good 5 wood and seen the ball land on the green but thought it had ran through, when we got to the green one of my playing partners was fixing my divot and I was looking for the ball off the back because I didn't see it on the green. He said your not going to believe this but your ball is in the hole. If I didn't have on cleats I would have attempted to moonwalk around the green. lol

God Bless!!! Ray

that's awesome, congratulations!! i actually just shot my first legit eagle last week. (no mulligans or drops) my second shot was blind and i pulled up to the green to see my ball less than 6 inches from the hole making for an easy eagle put!  As excited as i was that i shot an eagle, i can't help but think how close i was to a double eagle.

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
