It’s been a while since I’ve been here, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to play golf too.

I’ve had some health issues this season, my back went out on me and they found something inside my right femur, benign I hope but at this point I don’t yet know.

I’ve actually played a couple of rounds now, here at the end of the season, I’ve been doing alright on the course, 76 on a par 71, 77 on a par 72, but I get really tired playing I’ve lost about 30lbs most of it is muscle weight.

The good thing that’s come out of this is that I’ve taken the driver out of the bag, I haven’t got the power to hit it anymore, which means I hardly ever miss a fairway..

Well,

I love this game most days

I didn't really understand this statement. You can hit a ball w/ driver pretty dang far with just a half swing as long as your hitting around the sweet spot. The new drivers these days make them the most forgiving club in the bag IMO.

But whatever keeps your confidence up and gets you low scores. :)

Glad to hear your playing again and having fun!

yeah there's something there, I hope it's benign like a cyst or something, but at the moment we don't know. No I didn't mean to lose the weight, I eat boatloads but it just falls off.

I just hope you've had all the needed tests. Golf is pretty unimportant if your health is not what it should be. That much unintended weight loss is a sign something isn't right.

Don't give up on the driver however. After two back surgeries I'm starting to get my distance back. I had four drives over 260 the other day and I'm 62 years old. I'm not sure where they came from but today's drivers are the only thing that make shots like that possible. My average drives are only around 225 or so but when you catch them just right man do they go.

Here's to hoping that your health recovers and you're able to shoot below par!

this is disconcerting.  i am only posting this here and not in a PM because it is valuable info and if just one person remembers it then it is of value.  unexplained weight loss is something to be concerned about.  i wish i had known this when i dropped 20 lbs without trying.  turned out to be stage 3 Lymphoma.  please get it checked out.  it might be nothing.  might be benign.  i pray that it is.  just get everything checked out.

I agree with the person above.

Unexplained significant weight loss, with the known presence of a growth in your femur requires immediate medical attention.

Not sure how long you've been aware of the presence of the growth and/or been experiencing the weight loss, but that is something that requires a definitive diagnosis ASAP.

Blessings to you!

I've had about a million different tests done, originally it was my left side that was of interest  but they did a full skeleton scan with something called "skint" which is an isotopic camera of sorts.

Doing this "skint" thing they found a growth inside my right femur. They couldn't say what it was but they hope that it is benign(as I wrote earlier) I'm now awaiting the next step.

I think what our Swedish chum is saying is that he didn't hit the driver very straight, so removing it is keepin em straight n true.  I can relate to that, my big dog is being very naughty but the three wood is clonking it long and straight.

Hope the health issues go away and your fit and strong to play buddy.
