I went to the driving range today, and i have noticed that i am slightly coming over the top on my downswing, even though i was doing this i was still hitting the ball straight, so has anyone got any suggestions on what i need to do, do i actually need to change anything if i am still hitting the ball well even though i'm coming over the top slightly?

Thanks!

Carl Pettersson has a little over-the-top move but his shaft shallows and the club gets inside the hands at A6 (shaft parallel to the ground on the downswing). He draws every shot.

Most bogey golfers obviously don't do this. They don't turn enough or load the club too shallow and have to come "over-the-top" as a way to move their low point forward, shaft gets steep, club is outside the hands at A6.

As it pertains to you @2626 , going off your handicap, I would guess you just had a good timing day and the straight shots were more straight pulls. If long term you find yourself struggling with contact and hitting the ball online then I would address why those problems are occurring. If you continue to strike it well and the ball generally goes where you want it, then I wouldn't change it.

I wouldn't say a straight to pull fade is a horrible shot. A person can play really good golf with that shot pattern, as long as it is consistent.

FWIW, I almost always tip out a little from A4 (top) to A4.5 or so but lately I've been pretty good at getting the clubhead inside or over the hands at A6 (shaft parallel to ground on downswing). I think the A6 position is far more important in terms of influencing your impact position, obviously hitting a good A6 is easier if you don't tip out but as long as you're consistently hitting a good position by A6 I dunno if I'd worry too much about what happens prior to A6. If OTOH you're struggling to get the clubhead inside the hands at A6 and hitting a lot of slices or low pulls then you might want to attack that transition piece.

Like @mvmac suggested, post a swing in the Member's Swings forum and you'll get some good advice. Mike (mvmac) is a great teacher and will likely give you a few freebies to get you started if you post some quality video. Lots of other members are very generous with their knowledge as well.

EDIT* I am not even close to qualified to teach so take everything I've said with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty confident that the slight OTT move you've described is not your priority piece given that your seeing a reasonable and repeatable ballflight.
