I pre-ordered a Skycaddie touch "trade in" So I would send in my SGXw and get the new one for $200.

I got the unit and overall it seems pretty cool.  I did not actually play with it but I did notice it takes a long time to boot up which is a problem if you try to boot it at the first tee.

The only actual functionality "upgrade" over the SGXw is you can update or send your scores to their website over Bluetooth.  The wifi portion of the SGXw, is awesome because you never have to hook the devise to a computer with a cord.  I would not buy one that had to physically be hooked to a computer again, it is a PIA.

So you can in theory  upload your scores and download course information using bluetooth connected to you phone.

BIG PROBLEM BLUETOOTH DOES NOT WORK YET.

This is a vaporware situation if I have ever seen one.  I chatted with a person on their support portion of the website and got canned answers to my question of if Bluetooth worked yet and had to force them to admit it did not function.

I called in and it was admitted that it did not work but would "in a few weeks".

I called BS and asked to return it.

This is an epic overreach.  Someone trying to make their number on a product that I believe was pre-launched once before.

A corporation is as good as its word in my opinion.  Is what you are telling me true, if not I can't believe anything you say because you have proven yourself fast and loose with the truth.  Nowhere does it say Bluetooth does not work. After messing with it for an hour I finally came to a screen saying coming soon.  Thanks for wasting my time.

To add insult to injury I tried to sync it over a Mini usb connection and that did not work either.  I was given advise on a series of steps including re-booting my computer which I did not try because I knew I was returning it.

So be warned, Bluetooth does not work as of 11-14-14 and there is no guarantee it will ever work.

Good PSA.  Their site still touts bluetooth with no "when available" fine print.

Sounds like a company I should avoid.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

SkyGolf is notorious for having product development delays and releasing products that are unfinished.

The original SkyCaddie watch didn't work as advertised when I bought it and I had to wait for a new update before I could access all the features they touted.

When I purchased the SkyGolf device the website that you were supposed to upload your data was unavailable.  After a month of owning it I received an offer to become a beta user of the website and 2-3 months after that it was finally ready for production use.

SkyGolf doesn't want to miss out on revenue from the holidays so they seem to constantly release products before they are ready and expect their customers to accept it without any price concessions.

Its kind of funny because the bluetooth worked for my first sync (Samsung Galaxy note 2.)

The funnier part is that the skygolf app is not supposed to be compatible with my phone, for some reason I was able to install it in the beginning, but will not be able to update it when they fix the bluetooth issue.

The worst part was they were supposed to be sent out based on order date.

Once I realized that people who ordered in October already had tracking numbers, I was bit upset. (I pre-ordered in February)

It took a chat with customer service for me to get mine shipped - on the plus side, they did overnight it so I had it last weekend..

Yes, most everything works now - but with the timing of you joining and posting - it smells of you being a skygolf employee.

Skygolf f'd this one up bad. People ordering in October got theirs before people that pre-ordered back in February (remember, credit cards were charged immediately, not upon shipment.) The product was inferior to all previous models upon receipt.

People are rightfully angry with the whole experience - especially since theses are all very loyal customers that have no problem paying subscription fees.

This fiasco will create an opening for another company to come in and swoop up these peeps in a few years - at the very least, few will be all in on any new product released by skygolf.

My friends and I have all owned skycaddies for years - but this more than likely will be our last purchase from this company.

Just wanted to pass along my story.  I decided to bite on their trade in offer.  Yeah I saw all the bad reviews but I thought how bad can it be.  They have a money back guarantee after all.  Long story short it would not sync to my computer and after a couple of sessions on their "live chat" (not so much on the "live" part) I decided I wanted to send it back.  They gave me a return ID and said I have to pay to ship their DEFECTIVE product back to them.  When I actually talked to one of their reps on the phone I asked if he would do business with a company that treats loyal customers like this and he said "it depends".  Depends on what, if you're an idiot?  The rep finally had had enough of me and I could hear his handler in the back ground say "just hang up".

I'm in the software development business and I understand the issues associated with a product like this but you have to back up your product. If they were to have just taken care of the shipping costs they would have retained a loyal customer but to say sorry buddy I know you spent a lot of money with our company but you're on your own to get our DEFECTIVE product back us, well that is really unbelievable.  They even make a big deal about putting their "Concierge White Glove" service on the invoice.  Now I know what the white glove is for, it is so you can't miss it when they give you the one finger salute...

Now they have lost this customer forever and I have already talked a few of my golfing buddies not to take the bite.  They need to take a lesson from Amazon and a few other on-line retailers that back up the products they sell.
