I'm looking at some buckets of Pro V1 balls on lostgolfballs.com. I've read that 2013 and 2014 are the same with a different box, but that 2012 ones are harder and not as soft. Is this correct? Just curious if there's any real difference and if the 2014s are worth the extra coin because it seems that the 2013s they had are gone.

Titleist releases ProV1 series upgrades in odd years, and refreshes the rest of the lineup in even years. So the 2013 and 2014 are the same ball; at some point they just drop the 2013 tag because that's just there to help the consumer know if the retailer is selling the new model or the old while stock is being cleared out. There's a new 2015 model. Before that was the 2011 model.

As for performance, you'll be hard-pressed to differentiate between model years. I don't think it's possible if it were a blind test and the tester were a handicap golfer.

Agree with this, if you like the ProV1 you really can't go wrong with either version.

For a bogey golfer like myself I doubt I can tell the difference either if they're that similar. Thanks guys.

It's funny: Titleist always sends me a sleeve of their prototype balls to test every winter (you can get them too; sign up for their Team Titleist list). They come in a white sleeve with markings of "TEST" where the model would be. They send you a review survey a few weeks later and my answers when they ask me to compare to the current model balls always boil down to "*shrug* They're great, though!"
