We recently came across a club with Jack Kennedy engraved on the face. Interesting! Could this have historical significance?

Don't know about Jack Kennedy, but I found this information about Kroydon Golf:

The Kroydon Company was an RVRR customer located along the Rahway Valley Line in Maplewood (Newark Heights). Not only was the Rahway Valley Railroad built to serve the Baltusrol Golf Club (See the Railroad Built for Golf) in Springfield, it also shipped golf clubs being manufactured by Kroydon in Maplewood.

A subsidiary of Kraeuter & Company, Kroydon for many years was a premier manufacturer of golf clubs. The parent company, Kraueter & Company, Inc., was founded in 1860 by August Kraueter, an experienced toolmaker. The company grew to be a manufacturer of tools of all shapes and sizes.

Shortly after the end of World War I, the forging division of Kraeuter began forging heads for golf irons. They became so popular that Kraueter began manufacturing a complete line of golf clubs, under the name of Kroydon.

Not long after, an "up-to-date" plant was erected in Maplewood on a siding of the Rahway Valley Railroad. Kroydon became a premier manufacturer of golf clubs, due to its adopting formed steel shafts in their clubs, instead of hickory shafts. Kroydon drew its own steel shafts on special machinery, designed by themselves.

During World War II, Kroydon converted its manufacturing plant to produce signal antennas for the Army Signal Corps. and for the British and Canadian governments.

While it is unknown for how long Kroydon remained a customer of the RVRR, we do know that the company continued to manufacture golf clubs into at least the early 1950s.

When your topic first said Jack Kennedy golf club, it reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where J. Peterman has Elaine acquire John Kennedy's golf clubs at an auction.

Without iron clad provenance, it's just an old club with a name stenciled on it. I wouldn't be planning any influx of cash..........if you know what I mean.

      I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.

      The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.

      Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
