Need Driver Advice

I currently have a Callaway x460 driver - I am finding I just do not like the club - I am not a fan of the 460cc heads on today's drivers (or at least the height of those driver heads). Are there any decent drivers available with less than a 460cc or shorter profile head? I saw the Callaway X2 Hot is 440cc. I guess I am looking for options like that to replace my x460...

The only one that is that much lower would be the Titliest 915D3

The 910D3 and the 913D3 are also smaller clubheads and very good clubs you could find used or on sale.

Bio Cell+ is 440 also I believe.

It's a bit old now I guess, but I just bought the SLDR 430 driver for the same reasons. Bigger heads distract me, rather than inspire confidence.

That said, the 430 isn't tiny but its small enough that I'm satisfied and feels like a proper upgrade in size from my SLDR 3w.

This driver costs about 100-130 bucks and arrived in like new condition. I am over the moon with it. Could not believe how far and how accurate it is, even as a beginner.

Pros:  Has a quiet sound. Goes forever. Very consistent. Has lots of utility with adjustable loft, and the sliding weight if you care to tinker.

Cons: Little felt at impact, which is true. "Allegedly" unforgiving, which was not true in my experience.

So I finally wised up and took a lesson this past weekend. After a frustrating hour I was finally able to hit my Callaway x460 - three solid drives 250 and straight - we will find out this week if I can continue that :)

Two simple changes - slowed my tempo down alot - and adjusted my stance - opened my feet up a little and narrowed my stance width and viola - I was able to hit must clubs decently again. before that I had been blocking all woods and hybrids. Seems the 40+ pounds I put on have made me less flexible - so instead of a new driver it is time to walk more and eat better :)

I took the time and paid the money to get properly fitted for my driver. I am 6' 5" tall weigh 200# and am athletic even though I am 58. My average driver swing speed is 101mph.

I had been an interested observer of Tom Wishon and his product line and decided to take the plunge having been experiencing difficulties controlling my Ping G25 12.5°.

I found a Wishon approved fitter via the website. The fitting lasted two hours and was extremely detailed. I hit two different types of heads, the normal 919THI 460 driver and the somewhat smaller 919 Fairway Driver.

I hit about 100 shots over the course of two hours and tried twelve different shafts.

I ended up purchasing the 919THI set at 10.25°, the face 1° closed, with a Wishon Red Label 65g Stiff shaft at 44.5". The reduction in shaft length with a properly fitted shaft for my strength and swing dynamics has allowed my far more confidence from the tee. I carry the ball an average of 245yds. Roll out is whatever the conditions allow.

I am a firm convert to shorter driver shafts. While I am competent, a strong 6 handicap I am by noway a golfing god. The thing I always find confusing is why part time golfers believe that they can use equipment that top professionals don't or can't. The average driver shaft length on the PGA Tour is 44.5". I believe that both Garcia and Donald use 43.5" driver shafts. Why then are the manufactures making shaft lengths at 45.5" and 46"? Answer: Because the 1 time in 20 that someone does actually catch it clean is the shot that they remember as opposed to the 19 other slices and pulls.
