Had pleasure of playing Royal New Kent today. A Mike Stranz gem. During the renovation the new ownership brought in Mrs Stranz and she had all of the original design work of her late husband Mike. The team recreated the course as originally laid out. Not often you encounter a 142 slope off the whites at 6132 yards...with three sets of tees behind you...If you are in the area you should visit this place. Chip Sullivan is the head pro and very welcoming.

Looks like a Stranz design for sure. I’ll add it to the ever growing hit list.

If it's like Tobacco Road, I'm not sure I will agree…

Stonehouse to open in July. RNK is quite humbling. At times seemingly well struck shots that are ever so slightly off, end up in very difficult spots.

The primary difference between the two is RNK stretches back to 7480 yards...Their Invicta tees with a 77/154... Tobacco taking every inch it has can't go much past 6700. RNK Gold at 7119 is a 150 slope. Their black at 6695 is a 147 slope. I love Tobacco Road. More than RNK. RNK is tougher. At least for those of us that don't pop their drives past 250. Especially today where my combined total roll on 14 tee balls was like 50 yards. Got a hard spot a couple times...Ha

That makes sense then. Thanks.

It’s OT but I have to ask. Did you light up Tobacco Road? Never played it or any stranz design but looks like fun.

And flog is golf backwards...Barton Tuck who was the founder of Wingfield Mgmt spoke to me extensively after I reached out to him months ago. I wrote to him and used the "I'm a Golfweek Rater " He literally picked up the phone and called me. I thought he was buying RNK...But no he just handled the renovation. The course is what was originally built. The bunkers are filled with a soft white silica sand that literally swallows your ball. I had one shot come 6 inches short and here comes double...That was 10. Anyway Wingfield  manages RNK  and Viniterra. Stonehouse I'm not sure they are involved.  There's some good golf in that area. A spring or fall trip would be best time to visit.

I shot just under my handicap.

If you can resist the temptations to try out shots you shouldn't try out, the course is pretty wide/short/playable.

Target golf with big targets.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
