I live in Orange County California, and spend alot of time on the range which im sure most all of you do as well. What I've been noticing lately is alot of the juniors using the thin multi-colored sticks.. or rods about the size of a Driver shaft for alignment. I've looked far and wide online trying to find a set with no such luck. Does anyone out there have any idea what these might be?

Oh and i know the question will come up well why don't you just ask them where they got them? I did that i got 3 "my high school coach gave them to me" and 1 "My friends dad gave them to me i have no idea where he got it"

Thanks for your help..

I think you may be refering to the "Speed Stick", which Vijay has been hawking on commercials and infomercials for a year or so now.

If so, a number of retailers stock them (the Golfsmith by my house has a bunch stacked in a barrel for a hundred buck each). Here is on-line merchant Edwin Watt's selection. The different colors are for different speed swings.

Hope this helps!

Bag It:

3-Wood Wishon 525 F/D, 13*, Matrix Studio 65gm, Golf Pride Dual Compound
Hybrid: Wishon "321", 24*, MSF 85 HB, Winn DSI
Irons: Wishon 770CFE, Matrix Studio 74gm, Winn DSI

Putter: Odyssey DFX 2-Ball

Bag: Some big, honkin', ridiculous overkill of an Ogio cart bag with more pockets than I have teeth.

I was interested enough to go to the link Sherpat provided and found the red "Speed Stiks" are apparently for golfers weighing more than 175 lbs and the blue "Speed Stiks" are apparently for golfers weighing less than 175 lbs.

Oddly (IMO) the link did not provide any info whatsoever on how the "Speed Stiks" are used or how they work. Until I find out how they are used and/or how they work (I haven't seen the infomercial), I'm not going to mail in $99 (+S&H;) for something I don't understand. That being said, I sure would like to increase my swing speed!

Do they look like this?

If so, that's an Izzo "Adjustable Swing Stick Alignment Aid". Cost $21.99 Available at http://www.golfshoppingclub.com/Swin...gnment-Aid.htm . If not, google "golf alignment aid stick" and there's a bunch of products. Or, click here http://www.google.com/search?gbv=2&n...ck;&btnG;=Search

Nope its not a "Speedstick" and unfortunately not the "Adjustable Swing Stick Allignment Aid". The are actually about the size of a fishing rod in terms of thickness, and they are multicolored, like white with white stripes or white with orange stripes.

Thanks for the prompt responses i appreicate it!

Looks like

wurm knew what you meant. Now that we have this topic, would you mind describing how these guys use those sticks for training? Thanks

WURM you're my HERO!! That's exactly it!!

Basically they use them for many different things, I've seen some players use them on grass ranges by sticking them in the ground at an angle to help swing path (I saw Vijay use them at the Nissan Open last year for this reason). But primarily i see players lay them on the ground point to targets to help with stance and alignment. As training aids go they have many benefits, they are virtually indestructable, flexible and fit neatly in your bag without any additional weight added like the heavy speedstick.

Thanks again all especially Wurm for the help on this!

Where are they putting them for swing path help? One of my big problems at the range is that about halfway through the bucket my swing starts getting outside in. Could you describe the placement of the sticks to keep the swing path alligned?

I have a training aid like that, its a thin piece of wood with black marker pen marking where my feet should be (to help width of stance) does the same job as the fancy WURM or w/e it is lol... cheap for the win

I do something similar only its my sand wedge. The distance from the end of the grip to the hosel is the same as the outside width of my shoulders.

I'm gonna find it hard to use the sticks. I like to practice off mats. Otherwise, my two hour, 200 ball session turns into 2.5 hours hunting for a lie on the grass tees. I guess I need to go "where...the pors (sic) practice"

I have been doing an exercise in the gym with the cable machine. i set the rope to mid section level and take both hands and twist with my torso, pull the cable across my body. it sort of replicates bringing the club back. i do this on both sides. Since i started my workout regiment back in nov-dec, i have only played twice, but i could definitely tell that my swing speed was faster. I can somewhat understand how tiger can swing at such a high speed and still be in control.
