I think it has more to do with scheduling than anything. If it was just about picking courses, he would play at Pebble every year, he owns it. I highly doubt he is "ducking" any course, that's ludicrous. He's got nothing to prove, and it makes the tournaments he does play at even more special.

Besides, I don't think he's gonna lose his card anytime soon.

I just read an article that said probably the main reason is because his main focus is on the majors and with the Masters coming up soon, he tries to avoid the slow, bumpy, West Coast winter greens that they are known for. Once the tour starts to move east, the greens he will play will better prepare him for what he will see at Augusta. This article per ESPN.com

He doesnt play at pebble because of the pro-am it takes 5 and a half hours to play a round. Thats been well documented. Tiger has wanted to win at Riviera, tried and failed. He's played there 11 times.. 9 as a professional and his best finish is only a T7. So using the word "ducking" is not ludacris. I dont think he's scared of it (ofcourse). But i do think he's frustrated with it. Riviera is known as Hogan's alley. Therefore it shouldnt be considered just another tournament.. its a win he should have on his resume since he's the best player in the world. Not that it matters anyways.. this thread is dead cuz half of you idiots cant even stay on topic.

Don't forget that Tiger plays the Dubai Desert Classic two weeks prior. Since he is also building a course there he probably stays on in the UAE after the tournament is over to check on progress.

I did not know that. Thanks.

I don't think there's a course out there Tiger can't win on. That's kind of a silly statement. However, there are courses he prefers over others and Riviera for whatever reason he hasn't had the greatest track record at. He really has the ultimate schedule. He plays less than 20 events a year and it seems he schedules around majors, World golf events and events he was won before, maybe even multiple times such as the Buick. Sure Tiger probably wanted to win Riviera at some point in the past but I doubt he really cares now. Plus it seems the time doesn't suit him as he plays Dubai and the match play event. Doral and the Masters are coming up too. As far as getting the monkey off his back I don't think there are too many monkey's on Tigers back right now. He has to prove nothing.

He has to prove nothing?... Accept that he can win at Riveria right? Tied for 7th in 9 pro starts there? Anyways, I never said Tiger "cant" win there and i dont know who said that he couldnt. One thing i did say though.. he hasnt won in 11 starts there, hmm.. yup, i did say that. Did you even read the post's in this thread before you posted Cleveland? Hmm.. nope, dont think you did. Tiger will be happy to know you; his knight in shinning armour came to his defence at the 1st sign of trouble. I guess chivalry isnt dead.

Clubswinger... calm down, thread is on topic... and I agree, Tiger does have a little something to prove, and I'm sure he'll start playing Riviera in the near future. I think he stopped for a while out of frustation as someone already suggested, but I also think he'll be back.... eventually.

With all the respect for PM, if he's the best player in the world, then I'm the best portuguese player ever...

If you would have read a little further in the thread you would have seen I was joking... and I thought it was kind of obvious.

Ummm, did I quote you? Relax dude. You did however say he appeared to be "ducking" the tournament and you'd think he'd want to get the monkey off his back sort of thing and yes I did allude to that in my post. And no, I don't think he has anything to prove. Do you? Well I guess you think he needs to prove to the golf world he can win Riviera. lol. Obviously I can't read Tiger's mind but my point was I don't think he gives a damn about winning Riviera. Not anymore. He seems to have found his schedule and it's all about Majors, World Golf Events and keeping his sponsor's happy. If Northern Trust became one of Tiger's biggest sponsor's I bet he'd play Riviera and find a way to win it. Honestly the way Tiger played at the end of last year and appears to be playing now I think he'd win any stroke play event no matter the venue.

    • Not really, no. I don't know the history, what you've worked on, what you've tried and moved away from… etc.
    • Day 9: 2/16/25 Putting through 50 mm gates from 11”. Swing pressure shift drills.
    • Definitely not a favorite… For some reason my wife and I started watching Cobra Kai. I know the original was pretty cheesy, but the inability of these people to get over shit that happened like 30 years ago is astounding. And these kids would be arrested, but they don’t even seem to get suspended from school. Would Danny not notice that Johnny’s son looks like Johnny? Etc.? Why would a completely different dojo that has the same name be “banned”? Oy. Not sure we’ll make it to season 2.
    • Day 139 - 2025-02-16 Weather led to a rescheduled GEARS lesson, so I used the time to work on my swing for 60 minutes or so. All downswing stuff. Some swings at 93 MPH. Most around 75-80.
    • A question I have is…this swing (fade, pull cut) does not  feel as good and easily repeatable as the draw swing we were working on previously.  I’m kinda in a weird spot where I do not know which direction will be the best to pursue. I like seeing a penetrating 5 yard draw but also like the thought of the fade not getting away from me as much.    Any thoughts on that?
