Hello everyone. New golfer here I just picked up the sport about 2 months ago . Struggling with my swing, I played baseball for 13 years and I can’t seem to fix my baseball swing. I have signed up for lessons starting next week but want to address the issue so I can the most out of my lessons  when I go.  When I practice swing I do it perfect as soon as I address the ball it all goes away. And I baseball swing

Welcome to the game, and to TST. Lots of good folks on here, with decent opinions on golf, and other things.

As for your practice swing being perfect, but your hitting the ball swing not being to good, I have heard it said by many that both swings are usually the same. They both have the same problem(s).  The practice swings are just better at hiding the problem(s) since there is no end result being shown with a ball flight.

At any rate, enjoy your golfing journey. It will definately be a ride.

Btw, I played baseball too. One of the better pieces of instructions I recieved in golf was to swing the golf club like your are swinging a bat at a low, out side pitch. A pitch, I had a hard time hitting...lol

Another was to align the golf set up to center field, but swing the club head to right field. This one seemed to work a little better. It is also a very old piece of swing instruction. Back in the early 1900s, instructors referred to this swing concept as aiming down the middle of the fairway, but swinging the club head to the right rough, or the right side of the fairway.

Welcome.  One of the issues everybody has to confront is the impulse to smash the ball.  A proper golf swing, like a good batting stroke, takes the club/bat thru the ball rather than to it.  You will get the hang of it, I'm sure, but it won't happen overnight.  Good luck in your endeavors.  The game is well worth the effort.

Welcome to TST.    You've done well signing up for lessons.  Go in with an open mind, I'd not worry about the baseball swing until your instructor mentions it in a lesson.   Good luck

Welcome to TST. Good job on taking lessons. Yeah don’t worry about the baseball bit. I have a terrible swing without any excuse. Cheers.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
