My favourite player at the moment, but is he sailing a bit close to the wind with his JL branded clothing? This is basically his shirt in Round 2 at the Traveller's. The fact that you could say it's subtle isn't part of the equation.

Here is the PGATour's statement on such things:

Logo Size, Location and Quantity. Logos on a player’s clothing and headwear must be in good taste as to size, location and quantity. As a guideline, logos which do not exceed three by five inches (3”x5”) are considered reasonable. Generally accepted locations are as follows: right and left breast of shirt, right and left sleeve of shirt, right and left collar of shirt, yoke of the shirt and front, back and sides of headwear. Examples of unacceptable locations include: across the back of a shirt, down the length of either sleeve, down the length of a players pant legs and rear-end area of a player’s pants. As a guideline, no more than four different sponsor logos should appear on a player’s clothing and headwear. In addition, hat, shirt and pants designs may incorporate the apparel maker’s logo, other corporate logos, words, slogans, or the like provided they do not exceed the 3” x 5” size guideline.

I think it's not classified as a logo, but as the design of the shirt.

The three white stripes down the full side of his black pants are more annoying than the shirt, IMO.

Yes - but if Ping or Titleist did the same thing how would that look? It is a logo, but in a particular form. :-)

The plain language of the rule doesn't implicate "names" but expressly refers to "logos."  A name is not a logo unless it is made the logo of the company.  The JL logo is very distinct and is made up of a symbol instead of the name.  Ping and Titleist happen to have their name as their logo, and therefore they would implicate the rule, whereas JL does not.

I believe I'll let the PGA Tour worry about this.

Who is "worried" about it? It's merely an observation.
