Tiger's +3 through 11. He didn't birdie either 17 or 18, and actually he bogeyed 18. Bah.

Leader Ben Curtis? What? Take a look at the leaders in All around .

Scroll down...way down. Uh huh. Dead last.

I'll give him another 9-12 holes before he blows up.

i like ben curtis. i played him in high school golf a few times. even though i root for him, i do agree that he will not keep his position there. I still like ian poulter to win it.

Mickelson is -3 through 6 today and -6 overall. Might he finally play like a real man?!?! I predict a fizzle (fo shizzle!).

All I have to say about that is GO Davis!

Erik, make that -5 through 9 holes. He is now -8 overall. I figured he would start declining soon, but it seems he is going even lower.

That group is on fire! Mickelson is -5 for the day, Sergio is -4 for the day, and Adam Scott is -2 for the day.

Maybe Sergio will make me look like a smarter man afterall..

Lefty does look pretty good right now, I wouldn't mind seeing him add another major win to his list. Tiger has not had a great start today either--he will really have to turn it on if he wants to have a chance at making a charge at some point. If he can't put it together today it could possibly be the first major for him that he doesn't make the cut.

...but only one of them managed to make the cut.

Just looking at PGATour.com and was wondering why Kevin Sutherland is listed as being +4 but missed the cut??? Chris

Duval: +11 and out
Woods: +4 and in (and he could have easily been to +1 just on 17 and 18)

Did anyone see Woods reach 17? Wow. And what a bad break he caught for doing it.

Anyway, Woods needs a pair of 63s or so to get back into this thing. He could fire off a 68 or something tomorrow morning - going out early will make it easier (and cooler).

I wonder if Phil will win it. I'm undecided at this point. I haven't seen him play enough.

Too bad I won't be around to watch it (I'll record it though!). I'll be playing at Mystic Rock on Sunday. D'oh!

Holy crap did Bjorn have one helluva day! 63! Eight birdies, including five on the back with four pars. He bogeyed 7.

Mickelson is +3 through 6 today. Tiger is, if Mickelson plays even par from here on out and Davis Love finishes even, only five back. How far back was he at Doral?

Incidentally, I believe I saw two Titleists in the hands of the final twosome:

A 503.U in the hands of Jerry Kelly
A 904F 4-wood in the hands of Phil Mickelson

Things that make you go hmmmmm...

I'm pullin' hard for Davis. I'd love to see him come back after struggling to win his 2nd major.

I think Tiger will try to "bring the heat" early. If he can go -2 through the first seven holes, he could very well get the leaders "chasing" him, which would be very good for him and very bad for them. Davis' game will probably hold up but I don't think Phil's will (sadly).

Not going very far out on a limb with this one but I believe that the winner will already be in the clubhouse when Davis and Phil finish on the 18th.

Rick

    • That’s totally fair. I have my chipping issues which make my putter more playable in that situation. Really just confirming that while not optimal there comes a point where if you need to use a putter (for whatever reason) then the optimal mechanics breaks down. I know I’m a sample of one. 😂
    • Day 329 - 2025-08-26 Hit 24 balls before lessons and JEP Summer Session. With the MP-33. 🙂 Put an undersized grip on my VR Pro accidentally.
    • Well, that's not really a putt at that point. You could easily choose to putt that up the slope with a hybrid or something.
    • Day 15 (August 26).  I missed practice yesterday, but otherwise had a 14-day streak going into it.  Somehow, some of my posts for this appear in my profile but I can't seem to see them (I hope I didn't break any rules that would cause them to be removed).  I am hoping I'll be able to keep doing some practice while I'm out to regain the red text.  Context:  am on vacation, this week with friends.  What was today's actual practice? Today, a friend and I decided to go to TopGolf;  it was kind of like being at the range with someone else's clubs.  And that's ultimately how I was able to use it for practice:  I don't practice choosing a target, lining up to it, and then hitting often enough;  that's what this place seems to be about.  In any case, we were there for 90 minutes, I was hitting for maybe 35-40 minutes of that time, and I did pick a target each time.
    • Day 2 - (26 Aug 25) - Church men’s golf nine hole Captains choice.  Had grandson as part of our group - was a blast watching him drill the putts.  Love these no pressure sessions - great for going outside the norm on club selection.
