Golf Ball Question

I had a lesson this past weekend. We spoke at the end of the lesson about golf ball recommendations. He recommended the NXT and said stay away from the SoLo. A question for those who know the similarities of balls from different companies: What would be the equivalent model of golf balls from Bridgestone, Nike, Srixon, etc? I have some Bridgestone E6 and Srixon AD 333 left over from last season and I am wondering how they compare.

His recommendation was a harder golf ball with deeper dimples.

I know the Lady and other low compression balls would fall out of my recommendations.

Also, I was thinking of trying the Nike Ones that are discounted now. Should I go with the Black or Platinum or just listen to the guy and get the NXT?

Well it depends. Did you get advice from a guy who was recording things on a launch monitor? Or is it just a club pro or whoever that was giving you some lessons by just watching you swing?

Launch monitor- do what the guy tells you for best results.
Every day lesson- play the ball that feels comfortable for you and does what you need it to do.

The Nike One is a soft golf ball that produces lots of spin. Sounds like your teacher wants you using the opposite of that.

i think he is suggesting a harder more all'round ball perhaps due to the fact that he has studied your swing.

I agree, NIKE balls are super soft.

I like the NXT the best--The ditance is unparalleled. They are hard though. But if you get a pro-v1 they are really soft and scuff easily but are the best for short game---Pro-V1s are not a distance ball

In general, deeper dimples will produce a lower ball flight, shallower dimples a higher ball flight.

It was a lesson with the club pro. Just watching me swing and working on that aspect. I tend to bargain hunt for golf balls, so I was wondering what other golf balls are considered in the same "group" as the NXT. Not that $30 is a killer, but if I see another brand on sale I wanted to be sure it was compatable.

Bridgestone E-5+ is a two piece with a relatively soft cover, E-6 3 piece with a slightly harder cover, won't spin as much, doesn't go quite as high, a little longer. The E-5+ is a better ball around the green even though a two piece because of the urethane cover Ifeel.
