I'm just getting back into golf now that kids have gotten older. At one point i was shooting in the low to mid 80s but always had to compensate for the slice off the tee and mid to low irons. My short game around the green is good since i've always had to scramble. I'm taking lessons with my local pro next week but wanted to get some more feedback from the group here. I've already been playing with my swing plane because the first time i recorded i could definitely see an over the top swing and not much hip rotation. Any thoughts recommendations would be appreciated.

I've been Playing Golf for: 20 years on and off
My current handicap index or average score is: 90
My typical ball flight is: left to rigt
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: slice off tee and mid irons

You're doing a "bad" drill if you hit fades/slices and want to stop hitting fades/slices with that stick "under" your plane.

So I need to be this instead -

I don't recommend anyone really hit balls with a stick behind the ball like that, because if the shaft comes down on the stick, there goes your club (shaft).

I'd just post some new swings with good camera angles and no sticks:

No need to take it down. Just continue to use this topic when you get more video(s).

For the down the line shot, have the camera lined up on your toe line.

    • Day 233: did a stack session.
    • Failed to hit “done” on yesterday’s post - so we start over as that’s two missed posts in the last couple of weeks.   Day 1 (9 Mar 25) - Some 50° wedge fun this afternoon in the backyard.  Worked on making smooth swings with good torso rotation - really zeroing in where I wanted the ball to land AND then making sure I watched the ball leave before looking up as the swing finished.  The latter focal point is one that has begun to pay as I’m seeing better green side accuracy - more up and downs made.
    • Just had a club event and played 5 nine hole matches. Shot 39-36-37-35-40. Just a really good weekend of golf even though the last 9 was a struggle to swing the club the last 5 holes. The highlight was a turkey to cap off a match for a tie.
    • Day 160 - 2025-03-09 Got some work in after a long day. Only about 15 minutes and only about 21 golf balls, but… They were focused on the backswing with a pause, then a decent bit on the downswing.
    • This weekend I knocked off #10...a short 375 yard par 4....hit a hooky 4 wood that found the sand left leaving 165 into the wind. I hit 6 iron to 2 feet and tapped it in. All I have left is a par 3 that has been tricky this year.
