I just stumbled on this thread and was wondering how you are doing?  I have a pacemaker also, implanted in 2013.  For me, I started slow; chipping and putting and worked my way up

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, my wife of 47 years passed away so....

Once the doctor said it was OK I went back to playing, I didn't take it slow and had no ill affects. i don't even know I have it in. I don't know about you but when I had mine put in it hurt like hell. I woke up and it felt like someone shot me in the shoulder. I believe that was because they had a compression bandage on pressing hard on the incision. Once they took that off I was much better.

Hope you're doing well with yours.

Sorry to hear that.  I honestly don't remember any pain, I know I had to have my arm in a sling though.  I had mine implanted in 2013, and no issues so far.  About 9 years left on the battery.

So sorry to hear about your loss.   You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, it has been a rough time. My wife and I dated since 8th grade, through high school, collage, the military and 47 years married, We grew up together, big loss for me and our family.

Once they removed the compression bandage, there was minimal pain. Do you have a monitor by your bed? I do, they tell me periodically they take a reading off the monitor while I'm sleeping.  Haven't heard anything from them so I guess everything is ok. I see them next month for a check up.

I do not have a monitor by my bed.  Hopefully the check up goes good.

Have a friend that just got his second pacemaker put in, time for a battery change so they upgraded while they were in there. He's 75 and generally plays 2/4 times a week. He has the monitor. Good luck.

    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
