Hello fellow golfers!

Here is my predicament; within seven days and on the same course:

Tuesday: Scored 88 (thanks to consistent iron shots, but OB driver)
Friday: Scored 84 (best score ever; great iron game and improved putting)
Monday: Complete disaster, and I stopped counting at 110.
- could not hit a single iron shot (iron is usually my strength)
- either hit thin or fat shots that barely made it a few feet
- I even hit the SW so badly that it directed the ball sideways and hit the cart

It could be that I was overthinking after I hit my best ever score?
Maybe I put myself under pressure to score even better than in the last game?
I tried several adjustments, however it only got worse.

Side Note:
I was on vacation last week and was not looking forward to being back at work on Monday.
I felt a bit stiff from the Friday game and did not sleep enough from Sunday to Monday.

Has this ever happened to you, and what did you do?
Did you take a week off from golf or did you review your swing (video)?

Thank you,
Nave

Simplify. Hit some solid chips. Or punches. Build from there.

I'm sure if you look at about two years ago on this site, I mentioned somewhere that after having my first ever sub-80 round (a nice 77 in a tournament!), I failed to break 90 for I think two months.  These things happen.

Can't hit an iron?  What's the longest swing you can make with your PW and hit a good result?  If the answer is a chip, go hit some chips and, after some good ones, expand into pitches.  Similar with pitches into 3/4 shots, etc.

This is very likely something you can work out by going back to what you do well.

It's such a game for the mind and body... I had a stiff lower back , really struggled to hit anything decent all round ... so frustrating at times ... just have to trust the process

UPDATE:
1. I did neither play nor practice golf for about one week and stopped thinking of golf
2. Did lot of stretching and core exercises at the gym
3. Took a lesson this Tuesday
4. Played fairly normal again yesterday

Interestingly, when I hit my irons yesterday I remembered that last disaster round, and made me mishit a few shots again.
After I relaxed and trusted the process, things started to get back in the right direction again.

A mental game!

I'm thinking I should give it another day in court.  4. Boulder Creek, Streetsboro - Played it a lot. 👍I give it a thumbs up. Having said that it is probably over-rated.  5. Sleepy Hollow, Brecksville -  6. Stonelick Hills, Batavia -  7. The Quarry, Canton - Was supposed to play it. Got rained out.  8. Little Mountain, Painesville - Played. 👍Might be my favorite on the list. Not sure why, but I enjoy this one.  9. Cooks Creek, South Bloomfield - Played years ago. I've also heard it's fallen on hard times.  10. EagleSticks, Zanesville - Played a few times. 👍I like it. Not perfect, but you can get it at a good value. For what ever reason Golf Websites are always running this one at value prices.  So, I've only played half the courses on the list. In August I will have lived in Ohio for 10 years. So, I better get on it and knock a few more of these off the list.    I second that. Beavercreek is a good one.
