The Stack System - A Conversation on Gaining Swing Speed

Finished the full speed spectrum. Long interruption and the last two sessions had a significantly delay.

What’s the difference between the Cruiser and Flex programs? I will likely do one of the two next as the golf season begins and my ability to stick to a speed program every 3 days is less.

Here is a description of all the programs:

I think cruiser is meant for maintaining speed and flex can do more than that. But I'm just basing that on the descriptions that I linked.

Most importantly, I don't think the Mevo is all that accurate with the swings. Around maybe 20% of the time, I'm getting misreads or no readings. For a misread, I mean around 10 mph under what I would expect.

My experiment with the Mevo might be over after my last session. When it works, my instinct is that it's pretty accurate. But when it doesn't work, it's pretty terrible. I've had multiple times where 2 consecutive swings are 15 mph different. My 4th and 5th swings with 195 grams last night registered as 97 mph and then 112 mph. Finally, my set with 195 went from 106 to 96 between 2 sessions. Neither of those changes make sense. And there's 0 chance I actually had a 96 mph set with the 195 gram weight.

I hope a future firmware update will make the Mevo better, but I will probably go back to the swing speed radar for now.

I ended up going with cruiser. I think your description is right and flex is a bit more demanding. Hard to fit it all in right now so cruiser seems better for me to sustain the habit during the season and while making technique changes on evolvr

Got the Stack in November 2022, but my workouts with it have been sparse. I’ve never completed a program and I only do Return to Form because my body hasn’t felt great enough to do them often.

Thankfully that is changing now finally. I’ve spent two years doing regular needle work, nonstop gym workouts for three years, and over the last six months, a lot of stretching. My doctor graded me an F for mobility six months ago. He checked me again this week and gave me an A++ for improvement. Huge restoration of mobility in my hips, lumbar spine, thoracic spine and hamstrings. It’s helping so much for golf and of course speed. I still have a ways to go here but I’m probably at a B to Rory’s A+ for mobility.

I haven’t done much speed training but clearly I’m getting faster. Pretty happy to be where I am right now despite only scratching the surface of this. Hoping I can continue to build here. My goal is to start and complete the Foundation soon. Fingers crossed!

When I came back to golf two years ago, I was around 88 mph with driver. Now my cruising speed is about 99 with a recent high of 104 mph during my range session on Saturday.

Pretty exciting 😀. Okay, time for another round of burgers. I appreciate this thread and everyone’s respective journeys here. Happy 4th of July, everyone! 🇺🇸💥🌭🍔

Completed my second full swing spectrum, and pretty pleased with the results:

IMG_5022.thumb.jpeg.93c77f3f196933dca906a10143bac0a6.jpeg

I decided to do a 12 session cruiser schedule next. Cruiser is one of the creative programs. The AI recommendation was to do full speed spectrum again, but I wanted to try out a creative program. Cruiser is meant for in-season or busier times, according to the description. I wanted to just maintain for about 4-6 weeks, so I think it's a good fit. I enjoyed the first work out tonight. I am curious to see how it goes and what my next progress check looks like.

I started off good but went flat, and downhill.  Have I really regressed and gotten slower or am I just fatigued? I feel good and lift weights on alternate days. These last several sessions have been heavy sets followed by the 195 and I’m out of gas to put up a good number..one more session preview is 300, 100, 100, 195..

Finished foundation, recommended full speed spectrum, or neural next. Gonna try full speed. Pretty good results at 53. Gonna keep it going. Wondering if some trail arm work on the side would help as I’m a natural lefty but learned righty. Hopefully get in the 110-115 range and 160+ ballspeed.

Finished Cruiser last week. I enjoyed the program a lot. You could select how long you wanted to go, with an 8, a 15, or a 25-minute workout. I normally did the 15-minute workout, but having the option for the other 2 was great. It also accomplished the goal of keeping me about where I was:

The one negative is that you only had a 23-hour window to work out in and keep the maximum grit score. I missed that window once, and I don't normally miss those. A little more flexibility would have been great.

I'm back on full speed spectrum now. And strangely, that 23-hour window is still there, rather than the near 48-hour window I had in the past. Anyone else had or having this issue? The workaround is probably to just do the workout early if I want to, but it's strange that this is happening. I figured it was something with the Cruiser program, but maybe moving to that reset the window? I'm not sure.

Hey out of curiosity how close is your e speed to driver speed? I’m pretty on maybe a couple mph more if I’m warmed up, just curious.

My 280g is slowly going up I’m hoping that’s an indicator of getting faster, hope to be at 100 like you one day!

I haven't measured in a while - but last time I did, I was around 105-107 in trackman, about 107-110 with my normal radar. I can get a few more mphs out of it when I want to. So the eSpeed is roughly the same as my driver speed.

I use the PRGR launch monitor for speed training measurement and get plenty of false triggers for a fast backswing. Anyone had this issue and identified a solution? It happens with the Stack and when I measure with a driver.

Yes, it can happen. I don't know of a solution unless you want to just swing higher up or something.

Thanks. I have tried many things without success. Maybe I will email Sasho MacKenzie and see if they have a solution.

    • Day 34 - 2024-11-03 Ten minutes of work before Junior Elite this morning. Woke up "early" because of the time change.
    • Day 185 (03 Nov 24) - More work with the irons, well just the 6i, hitting into the net focused on setup and tempo.  Really more about the latter rather than former.  Slowed tempo to more of short punch swing, contact much improved.
    • I ended up playing Shingle Creek GC in Orlando bc what I found online said The Magnolia Course had some temporary greens and/or teeboxes.  It was just a month after Hurricane Milton, though Orlando was mostly spared. Shingle Creek was only 2.5 miles from our hotel, so very convenient.  The entire course was in great shape, and the staff was friendly.  I shot a ho-hum 82 from 6300 yds, mostly bc my putting currently sucks.  We didn't stay for lunch bc my wife and I had massages booked at the hotel and we were on a time crunch.
    • Well this has been a disaster of a summer, regarding playing. Played the least amount of golf in a summer since 2008. Yips on short game to partial wedges came in full hog. Full swing continued to be ok. Putting was the best part of my game. Handicap went from +2.5 to now 0.0. The number of rounds were low because I taught much more. Numbers are up over 50% from last year. A great thing but my own game was sacrificed and it annoys me a little. Short game really suffered from lack of play and practice.  I had rounds where I would lay sod over the ball, from the rough with a decent lie, looking at a simple chip from barely off green uphill to a pin. It would happen several times a round. I resorted to putting or using a 2iron to chip with. Obviously the less short game shots meant full swing was good. But, if it was off a little, I was screwed. My right wrist, elbow and knee all buckled and jerked right before impact. I couldn’t stop it. Tried everything I could think of. I went through a week occasionally that something would work, but never stuck. I remember not even having a club in hand. Just looking down at the ball and knowing I was in trouble.  A couple weeks ago, I watched a short game chef video on chipping and it has really helped turn my short game around. Yips aren’t completely gone, but very minimal now. Most of my issues now are distance control as the flight is slightly different. It was clear that I was too steep before. But I also realized I was decelerating quite a bit and trying to compress it for spin. Now, I’m much more neutral in setup. I’m really focusing in the very beginning of my take away and making my chest do everything there. If hands do anything to start, it will be a yip chunk or skull. I’m Trying to take shorter backswings and accelerate more through the ball without a feeling of “compressing” it. Allowing my draw biased motion to do its thing.  It’s resulting in much higher ball flights which means distance control up to 75yds will have to be reworked. The ball still has plenty of spin. I’m also able to use any club now to chip with versus feeling stuck with one.  My goal this off season is to try and break 60 from the forward tees at my home course. It will focus my game on tee shots and short game. Putting has become almost second nature and am not worried about it. Most of all, I need to figure out a better balance next year between work and play. Maintaining a high level of play is important to me (especially to my stress levels 😆).
    • He could… if he's playing pretty short tees. I mean, they might have to be 5200 yards or so, but he could.
