Really have been looking forward to this show for the longest time. It harkens back to the old TOS trek. Reviewers are saying it's better than Disco and Picard. Less dark and violent than Disco. Please be good. Please be good. Paramount+ Thursday.

This is the trekkiest Star Trek show that has ever trekked.

I'm very much looking forward to this.  I enjoyed season one of Disco, not as much seasons 2 & 3, although I liked the way Pike was portrayed in S2.  I haven't caught up on season four yet.  Picard season one was good, but not enough to make me hurry up to see season two just yet (I also was not in the camp that loved Picard from the various 20th century series of Trek). Similar with Lower Decks.  Not sure how much I want to catch up on, but I'm eager for this.

First episode was pretty good. It's been awhile since I watched the related Disco epiosdes, but I remembered enough. Very much in the vein of old Trek. Wish there were more episodes available upfront.

Finished the season and really enjoyed it. Yeah, it's copying and pasting from previous treks, but what did you expect? You can see the money on the screen. Pacing is great, neither rushed nor lagging. Great casting, great hair casting, and another design of the starship Enterprise. Very rewatchable opening credits.

Really enjoyed watching this.  I thought Pike was the standout best character from Discovery and it’s a really good ensemble cast.   Good update of classic Trek feel.

    • Day 118: 4/23/24 Stack Full Speed spectrum training session 2/24. Finished 1 mph over last session but 4 mph slower than the preceding program.
    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
    • Do you have examples of exceptional scores versus their established handicap indexes?
    • Day 539, April 23, 2024 Mirror work once again. When I get back to swings, I'll just do it A. LOT.
