It's Masters time again. Like many golfers I'll spend a good chunk of the weekend watching the best players in the world navigate Augusta National, a course I'll almost certainly never play and may never even see other than on TV or in photos.

Still I feel a familiarity with Augusta National simply because it's I've seen the course once each Spring on TV for the last 30+ years. Over the years, I've come to like some of the holes more than others.

The question is, what is your favorite hole at Augusta National... and why?

I chose #11. Really love the approach mainly.

2 Hybrid: SQ 18 degree, Steel Stiff ShaftIrons: MP-30, 3-PWSW: 56* Vokey Copper spin-milledFW 52* VokeyFlat Stick Zing 2Ball: Pro V1x

13- its playing very tough this year with players hitting long irons in to the hole. I might have to arrange for the fringe above the water to be cut though- its too long for my liking.

I'm taking number 15.
It's a great risk-reward hole.
It's usually a factor on Sunday.

Being that i'll never play there, I dont give a damn. At least I can go play pebble or sawgrass if I wanted to..My pro played there years ago, but in the condition the members play it, and said it was nothing special at all.

1) Sounds like you are spoiled. Basically you are taking your ball and going home because you're not allowed to play. Boooo!

2) Sounds like your pro is spoiled. #3 course in the Nation and it's "nothing special???" Probably the first human I've ever heard or read that from.

#12 it is...wicked par 3, green's not deep at all, distance control is a must!

Plus the hidden wind factor. Jack said it is so brutal. You do NOT go for the pin on Sunday.

For me it's 10. It's such a great equalizer. Nobody really dominates this hole. It sets up Amen Corner. You must hit a hard draw to have a semi-flat lie on your approach shot. If you don't, then you have a hanging lie with a long iron into a lightning fast, mulit-tiered green peppered with bunkers. This hole killed Norman over the years and cost him several green jackets.

I understand where he's comming from though... I think everyone would like to play some of these highly regarded courses that are reserved for people who think they are the kings of the world.

That being said... Augusta sure looks like a nice course to me. my favorite is 15... requires such a precise shot into it.

Just because you aren't allowed to play doesn't mean the members think they are the kings of the world. That is just bogus logic.

The place is probably the most highly desired private club in the country, if they allowed the general public in, then how would they ever manage? The answer is, they couldn't. Therefore, you are more than welcome to play if you are invited by a member. By the way, this is the exact same policy you would see at literally thousands and thousands of private golf courses around the world. Why now is Augusta getting a bad rap? My guess is, its just sour grapes. It's just a ridiculous argument.

back on topic: I like 13, love watching the guys hit 2 big draw shots in a row and seeing the mistakes for poor execution.

First of all... I'm not the one who started the whole "I don't like Augusta thing." Second, I wasn't necessarily trying to single them out.... if you read my post it says

some of these highly regarded clubs . My point is only that SOME people who do belong to these clubs think they are better than the guy down the street who plays the muni every weekend, and I can understand the other poster saying he doesn't care what Augusta is like because he will never get to play it. I never singled out Augusta or made any argument about it... I just said I understand why this guy feels left out. So don't sit there telling me my argument is rediculous when I'm not even making one. I have no sour grapes as I would be more than happy to play there if I got an invite, just as I HAVE played some of the nicer private clubs in Michigan by getting invites from people I know or friends of friends. Now, if I could only get someone to invite me out to Inverness before I move out of Toledo I would be all set.

OK, so your argument is SOME people at SOME clubs think they are the kings of the world? Compelling. And as a result, you agree with a guy who basically says that Augusta is irrelevant because he can't play it? Still Ridiculous. (not rediculous)

    • Day 203 (21 Nov 24) - Weekly nine hole round with my good friend.  Played it as a 7 club challenge (7w, 5h, 7i, 9i, GW, LW, putter).  As we were playing up a set of tees, no super loss of distance off the tee.  Had some good looks at birdie, failed to convert.  These sessions with fewer clubs really helps with course management.
    • Tell me about it - shouldn’t have second guessed…
    • My wife is going to drag me to see Wicked.   She is very excited to see it.   We saw the musical while in Chicago and thought it was very good.  I'm not usually a fan of musicals but I'm looking forward to seeing this.   Gladiator 2 does look good.   I'm going to go back and watch the original Gladiator before going to the theater.
    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years  My current handicap index or average score is: 1.5 My typical ball flight is: neutral /slight draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: hook   Looking for some advice please folks. Started golfing three years ago and got hooked. Had some early lessons and was a slicer etc.  I used to have a severe inside takeaway and through working hard to fix as ever (this game…) it’s now gone too far the other way where I take it back way outside.  i think it looks really bad and have gotten a lesson last year where we tried to competely reset the swing and it ruined things for months as I couldn’t get it to stick (my fault).    anyway do I need to fix this? I hit it reasonably solid but don’t know what else I’m looking at or need to clean up. All opinions welcomed!  Videos:
