his staying power was excellent at The Masters. Not since Ray Floyd has somebody led from the opening round of the tournament and gone on to win-very impressive indeed.

I would exppect him to make the top 10 in world rankings and win a few more inferior tournaments on the PGA tour and European tours. As for whether he can win another major thisa year?- why not, he's long has a great short game and is an excellent thinker.

Whatever he does, it will be better than what David Duval does this year.

He has a great swing and did finish Top 10 on the money list in 2006. I think his chances of a strong career are better than say Ian Baker-Finch or some of the other 1st time Major Winners. He seems like a really good guy.

I think he will become one of the top 5 players in the world, and until this weekend I had never seen him play. I have heard some say that he has what is called a "stack and tilt swing" and that a s & t swing is not a good swing to have if you want to be consistant. Well, too me the swing looked great and seemed to be very very very consistant. btw, what is a stack and tilt swing?

Everybody hit a bad shot or twelve so that's not very telling.

He looked mentally solid for four days and that impressed me. IMHO, for the next year he's going to be in the contender talk at every major. Oh, this is not a guess. He's going to make a boat load of money in the next year.

I was impressed by the driving stats. He was #1 in fairways and #4 in distance. I knew the guy hit it straight, but I had no idea he had that kind of length. With accuracy like that you have to consider him as a contender for the US Open and the PGA Championship. I'll still take Tiger though.

As I have stated clearly, I think Immelman is BORING! However, he is tough--perhaps from beating down cancer and tapeworms, perhaps he was just born like that. Combine that with his talent, and I see him as Furyk-esque without the loop, in other words lots and lots of top tens and $$$$

Hard to say, this is such a tough game. We've seen plenty of guys like him come in, win a major, then fade to mediocrity.

He definitely has game, but I'm not sure his putting is good enough to achieve Furyk-like consistency.

They were saying that after his surgery, he could only chip and put. That may have actually helped him. I noticed he was also using game-improvement clubs.

I agree, that by far was the most impressive thing I saw as well. Not to many golfers have been able to hold on like that for days.

Immelman is an average sized guy (5'9" 170 lbs) with a pretty swing that averages 290 off the tee. To me that's pretty exciting. I can learn more from watching him that watching Tiger. I'll never be able to match Tiger's physical abilities and athleticism.

Yeah, but Tiger would be MORE interesting to watch, and have a MUCH better celebration (what was with that psuedo muscle flex thing Immelman did?) Trevor looked like he just graduated from High School: calm, short hugs to all the fam, wierd Glenn Close smile in the Butler Cabin ceremony. . . At least Zach showed some emotion while he thumped his Bible (gag).

I think he will win many more tournaments throughout the next year.

Who told you he had a stack and tilt swing?!? Far from it If you look at him at setup is spine is tilted away from the target, and on the backswing he gets his upper body coiled over the back leg.

I agree that Immelman could be a contender at the US Open and the PGA (as well as the

British Open Championship and the Players Championship). The only thing that may hold him back at the US Open is thick rough around the greens (I haven't heard if it is intended to be shaved around the greens (like at the Masters), or thick stuff) that you might need a Mickelson, Goosen, and/or Els type of knowledge to get up and down. I think you're irrational thinking that Woods would contend at the US Open. Woods stinks at putting the ball in the fairway off the tee, so I wouldn't be suprised if he misses the cut at the US Open.

All of those guys that I know of that faded to mediocrity didn't have very stable (or efficent) looking swings. Immelman's swing on the other hand does look very efficent (and without unnecessay moving parts). I expect his swing will hold up for a very long time.

Am I missing something or has Tiger never won a US Open? I do believe he was second last year while spraying the ball. He also owns Torrey Pines. Irrational would be thinking that he has no chance and is likely to miss the cut. He may not win, but until he misses the cut, he is the favorite to win. He won the Open Championship in 06 without using a driver.

To anyone who follows golf closely, Immelman is nowhere close to the likes of Todd Hamilton and/or Shaun Micheel.

The guy made $3.8 million in '06 and finished the year ranked 13th in the WGR.

Now that he has "closed the deal" (and done so impressively), he will be mentioned in the same breath as Geoff Ogilvey as a potential "young gun" contender in every major in the forseeable future.

A fanstastic display of golf over 4 days. Nothing short.
