For those who haven't read it....get it
It truly is worth all the hype, especially for the new and high HC golfers.

I'll never buy another DVD again on instruction, this book explains all you need to know.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! Sorry to shout! I bought this book a couple years ago, completely changed my game. It gives good illustrations, and simply explains a proper swing, stance, takeaway, etc. Maybe $12 at your local bookstore. Probably worth 10 X more than the lessons I've taken in the past--and they of course cost 10X more than the book!!!

I agree completely! After I read that book things really started making sense for me. In fact funny thing is I gave my copy to my father in law and was just on my way to the bookstore at lunch today to buy another copy.

A wonderful read, highly addictive as well. I have printed many personal t-shirts of the illustrations in this book, here is one of them and a few other "work shirts"

I've owned this book since a kid, but never read it until maybe five years ago. I didn't really read any books until five years ago. But that's a testament to the fine artwork and diagrams in the book as well.

It is the end-all of full swing instructional books, in my opinion. The only flaws of the book is that there is no shortgame nor putting instruction, but he wasn't as known for that as his superb ball-striking. However, in his first book, Power Golf , he has a great chapter on bunker shots. I used Tiger Wood's How I Play Golf for putting.

But yeah, Five Lessons, IS... A... MUST!

I will definately have to buy this book.

The one that is the subject of this thread is

Ben Hogan's Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf . Same call it the Five Lessons or Five Fundamentals for short. But it is all the same book. And yes, the cover (but not the name) has changed from year to year. Before that, and what I mentioned was Power Golf

Great book and I make a point to read it every year before golf season along with Penick's the Little Red Book.  Hogan gives you the fundamentals and I think Penick presents basically the same type of information a less technical way as well as some broader course management ideas.

Definitely a good read, along with the Little Red Book.  As with all golf instruction books they need to be read with a grain of salt, because they are written from the perspective of the author.  They have found out what works well for them, with the physical and mental makeup they have.  Good information can be obtained from several instruction books as long as you keep that in mind.  What works for someone else may not work for you.
