I like to putt conventionally most of the time, although putting kak-handed is a good practice aid to stop your wrists from breaking down. I can think of a few tour players who like to go kak handed, including Bernhard Langer, Lee Westwood, Freddie Couples, Nick Faldo and Jim Furyk. It could be argued that Phil M likes to go kak handed but that depends on which way you look at it .

which way do you putt, and also where is your ball position when you putt??- i like to have mine off the front foot to get the best roll!

I putt conventionally. In one of my tournaments I saw another player putting kak-handed so I gave it a try the next day when I was practicing. It seems to give me more of the extra push I need to get my ball to the hole (I always putt a little too lightly) but my aim wasn't as good. I think it all comes down to the fact that I've always putted conventionally and when I tried to switch it up I couldn't putt as well. Of course that goes for all golf techniques, I'm sure if I putted kak-handed all the time I'd get used to it and maybe even putt better.

I putt cross-handed. It seems ot have helped me get the ball rolling on the right line right away. I could never do that with a conventional grip. It did take about 3 months of continuous practice during the winter, though.

He does not create any hand speed, it is all body speed.

When you think about it a cack handed swing should be very accurate, the grip itself does not allow a lot of club rotation, in other words it should keep the club face very square throughout the swing.

In Ireland we have a sport called Hurling ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurling ) where the player hits the ball (sliotar) with a kak-handed grip - it is common for the one player to swing right handed and left handed.

Seeing some of these guys play golf - well it doesn't look conventional but it sure does work. I play with a guy once a year (old friend of my dad's) who plays off 1, holds a couple of course records, he holds the club with a kak-handed grip. He also has only been using woods for the last 6/7 years (to make up for distance) - before that he used irons only.

Padraig Harrington has one of the best putting strokes in the world and he's been putting kak-handed for many moons. Not just my opnion - but the chap who founded Yes! said he has one of the best strokes today.

I don't putt kak-handed. Maybe I should though...

Conventional - have tried kack-handed but it feels very uncomfortable. But I'm not unhappy to putt either left or right-handed with a conventional grip in each case.

I'm unfamiliar with "kak"-handed? Cross-handed or left-hand-low is what I've called it. Either way...... I've been LHL for several years now. I think it's very personal, but I've been at it so long now, a conventional grip feels absolutely foreign to me.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

I cross it up when I am pushing putts. I'll spend about an hour or so on the practice green with them backwards, and then go back to my conventional grip. Seems to always get my arc back in sync.

Im naturally left handed, I used to play baseball in the mornings with my brother in law,and bat and field left handed, then we would play golf in the afternoon ,and I would play right handed, I always got the cash because he would be just shaking his head for the first few holes. lol

    • Played 9 yesterday at Cape Ann in Essex, MA. Played awful with maybe 4 really good shots but the course is so beautiful being right on the water it's hard to be to upset. I haven't practiced in forever so I'll need to get going on that.  Been better getting to the gym since I've been out here in NH. I came out from Minnesota for my well being so I figured I should be working on just that. Still hovering around 226 which surprises me as my sister in law feeds me quite well. Excited to be back east for the Celtics coronation. Go Celts!!!
