I have one problem in Golf, other than a rubbish swing, and that is glute issues.

Foe (probably) lifestyle issues I have tight left glutes and hamstrings, and is prone to easily getting injured when I play golf - the result is always the same - destructive hooks with driver or fairways instead of the more predictable fade/slice.

Tried strengthening last off season with no improvement and more recently stretching with good results and a couple of months of good golf. Until last weekend, when the weather was cold and the same problem rears its head.

Anybody else battled this problem and got the better of it? With autumn approaching, I worry my good golf will be gone for another 8-9 months.

If that worked then why stop? Keep stretching stay limber. Helps in not having stress concentrated in one area.

Tiger likes to "activate" his glutes.  Sounds like you need to "de-activate" yours...

Maybe not.

Yep, the toughest habit to get is to do something when you feel no symptoms.

Oh, stretching really helps when my back starts bothering me. Let's not stretch when it feels good so it can just start bothering me sooner 😛

Not really with glut issues.

I do recommend just stretching and exercising as much as possible. Also, could it be something in your swing that you can change that could help diminish the occurrence of this issue?

Sorry for the late response - I appreciate the response. Will try to continue the stretching. Had a great round today, and need to remember how much I enjoy playing my best golf to motivate me 🙂

Swing issues? possibly, I maybe need to prioritise looking into that the next time I go for a lesson

    • Very interesting stuff. My one thought that popped out at me is about Scottie Scheffler and the molded grip 7 iron. I would think the chance that it's one of the random ones you can buy from PGA Tour superstore or what have you is very unlikely. I would be astounded if that wasn't done custom for his exact grip, putting it rather out of reach of most of us. The thing about the foam rolling was very interesting. It's not something I've ever done before a lesson at the venue. If I'm feeling stiff or sore, I might do something with a foam roller at home, although even that is unlikely.
    • Well, I am not surprised since the departure of Koepka and Reed.  Also Mickelson taking hiatus from golf hasn't helped any - albeit he is not much of a needle mover these days. Surprising is LIV hasn't offered any contract extension to Bryson as he seems to be the only marquee player they have at the moment.  Oh wait there is Dustin, Sergio, and ???  But these two guys haven't been doing much lately anyway.
    • Day 7, April 15.   I was so excited about the pelvis turn drills that I didn't work on the hip rotation drill from my latest Skillest lesson (oops!).  I worked on that today, using a cereal box.  I also continued to do some pelvis turn drills, in part because I'm doing some of it with all practice balls hit, and I wanted to hit some balls this morning too.
    • I was hoping to find an image of my Edel Putter in my swing thread here. I found the video of the 1st tee shot at Moon Valley from 2015.  Whooo man, that backswing, 🤣 Man, I had faster hips and more mobile hips back then. I could get the hips open prior to impact.
