I have always been a Jason Day fan. To see his swing improvement over the last year and a half has been great, especially this season.

Last season, through 19 events he had: 2 top 10s, 5 top 25s and 12 cuts made.

So far this season, through the 10 events, he has 4 top 10s and 8 top 25s. He has 2 missed cuts, so when he made the cut, he finished top 25. Definitely an improvement from last year.

Where’s the difference?
This is last years strokes gained:

So far this season:

A really big difference. Even started to lose around the green strokes, but really improved full swing stats.

Chris Como started working with him in 2022. Biggest difference is lower body work: reduced flex in trail leg on BS, more rotation and extension of lead leg on downswing (less EE). Basically, he’s using his body better, while reducing the strain on his back. He even says that he doesn’t trust the swing yet. I can’t wait to see when he does.

He just needs to stay healthy. Hard to be consistent on the PGA TOUR when you are always on and off the IR.

I'm glad to see him play well, he's one of those guys I always take a look for as I look down a leaderboard, he lives like a mile down the street from me so I drive by his place almost daily and he's posted numerous IG videos hitting balls at the same driving range I go to.

Curious to see how he performs in the majors this year as that feels like one of the next steps to trusting the new swing.

Less right side bend for the big chunk of the downswing.

Ah cool. Makes sense.

He definitely looks like he's going immediately into right side bend on the downswing in this swing here from 2014.

    • Yes, because you have lifted to like 120° without bending the left elbow. So when you turn and the left elbow bends… it bends in such a way that you then lower your left humerus and pull the club around you.

    • Day 3 (23 Jun 26) - Grandson put in to play this morning when he arrived at the house.  He wanted to play a full 18 from the "purple" tees (these are custom tees that play shorter than our gold but longer than the red) in a best (super) ball duet.  Was a great day working on course management - seeing him play well (for a 10yr old) - for example, hole 12 has a temp green about 100 yds from the tee box, he hits a solid 8i to 4' pin high and nails a birdie putt.  Could have never been prouder.  These are the moments grandfathers dream of - and hopefully the memories he will recall when his day comes to be Paw-paw for his grandson....may the game live on.
