I call this a "rookie" error. It happens every now and then (especially if both of you are in that area), but if a pair does this every hole, its a long day! Like you said, its all about communication and awareness.

One thing that can frustrate me is when my ball is past a "no carts sign".  In those instances I often take my cart partner to thier ball then grab my weapons and and walk the remainder of the hole.  I tell my cart partner "I'll walk from here".   Then after I play my ball I look back and they walked away from the cart leaving it far from the green.  Then one of us needs to walk back to get it.  Maybe I need to be a little better in comunicating, but it seems when  I say "I'll walk from here" they should know they need to pull the cart up after making thiere shot.

I don't know why, but that made me laugh. Thanks for the morning chuckle.

3) Searching for balls.  If a player hits a wayward shot then you need to judge the best way to proceed.  There are variables but consider.  You may drop one player at their ball then the other quickly drives over to the area to help search.  You may even want both players in the cart to make their shots before joining the search.  What you want to avoid is all in the group searching for the ball while there are 3 playable balls just sitting there waiting.  Carts move quickly, you can hit your ball then get to the search area pretty fast in most cases.

Thanks ruptured thing in my calf, I am no longer able to walk. however a good majority of those I play with still do.
After we tee off, If I have a good line on my ball, I will zip over to find another players who may have difficulty finding theirs.
I should mention that I tend to be the longest in my group so rather than sitting behind them and slowly rolling up the fairway behind them like a stalker, I try to keep things moving.

I usually toss my cap on top of their ball. I am considering starting to bring little mini flags to mark balls.
Once everyone hits, I roll up to mine, hop out and duff my second shot a few feet, and then move on!

Amusingly perhaps, I walk and I've thought about getting a few mini flags for my bag for this purpose.  I tend to walk faster than my typical group and I typically hit past them, so being able to do this would be nice.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
