Greetings from South Dakota

Grew up playing golf for fun all thru college and shortly there after. Got married, had kids and the golf game was put on the back burner a bit......relocated to South Dakota for work with the family and lost my golfing buddies.

In the last year, my son became actively involved with the First Tee of South Dakota program and has fell in love with the sport. I have a golf buddy again. A fair bit of changes in the equipment portion of the game. Look forward to the knowledge updating not only my own equipment, but also my son's as he continues to grow.

Welcome to TST and Welcome back to Golf.  It is great your son is into golf as this is a fantastic family sport and can really strengthen the bond between parent & child.

Much appreciated and thank you. It has been fun getting out with him either to the range or play a few short rounds. Courses haven't opened here but we did sneak out Monday as the kids were off school for a couple of hours at Great Shots (just like Top Golf)

Glad I found this forum....have a few "questions" as I jump with both feet back into this endeavor which I'll post up when I have time. This seems like it has a "laid back" attitude....glad I found it in my google search....initially joined another forum (the last half of the name shares it name with a VERY FAMOUS Subaru model) and seemed more "PGA type questions".....here I won't feel quite as bad asking about old irons angle vs new (trying to understand this) or with the addition of new irons and a mix of some old...what do I need in my bag now.

Grip it and rip it!

    • Day 49. Played 9 from tees a bit beyond my comfort zone and was humbled. Hit a couple good shots so will take that at least.
    • +12 47, and never lost a ball or had a penalty. Got the snap hooks off the tee for the first 3 holes. So, playing the punch out game. Probably had like 20 putts. Bad short game day. The greens were weirdly firm but slow. I just don’t get spin out of the rough. I had a SW, with good height hit middle half of the green and end up almost off the back of the green. I know what I was doing with the full swing. Bad habits creeping in.
    • 9 years and counting. Lil chipped paint here and there but still going strong. Also have an 18 deg driving iron that I got a couple of years ago which is doing well too. @iacastried it and I think he liked it.
    • For PING to assemble and ship it? It's a 3H. Yea, the new club has more loft. How do you like that, 2H?
    • Then go on gitchu a brand spanking new 2H son.. what are you waiting for?
