I've had one for a while but I'm not sure how much I like it. I've marked lines on my balls since I first found the 'Line em up' little plastic line template. With the Check-Go I spin the ball and make a light line to use as a guide then I use the Line em up device to make my mark. What I've found is that it's hard to get the line centered on the equator with the Check-Go. If you mark just a fraction higher or lower than the equator you've got an off-center line to try to line up. However, there must be something to it because after marking a ball you can put it back in the Check-Go and it'll line right back up the same way (most of the time...some balls are probably not as far off balance).
IMO, there are worse ways to spend $25-30. If it helps a couple putts per round roll in it's worth it, and if it doesn't then you've got an expensive line maker.

I do exactly the same as you Chris and also find the the line is sometimes a little off. The thing I do is to put the "line em up" over it and look at the opposite side of the ball to the line em up, this along with what you can see through the slit shows if the line is to one side of the equator or not then you know where to draw the line - using the check-go line as a guide.

Does that make sense?

Anyway Dave Pelz reckons you should do this and give yourself everychance of making the putt...

Cheers

Yeah, that's where I got the idea from (David Pelz) and was wondering if this device made a difference.

Well it does what it says on the tin and that is find the c of g of the ball. So if you subscribe to DP's views (which I do) then I think this is a good bit of kit. When I hit a put and it rolls true with the line on it and it misses the hole I know it was a bad read/pace and nothing else.

I think that it's worth the few pounds/dollars it costs.

Well I sold these at the golf shop for 2 years. We messed with it over and over and I have never seen it work. I do not think it will make a differnce either way. Its like the Sabona's If you think they are going to help with the pain they do.

I was wondering if anyone has used the "Check-GO sweet spot finder" (

Yes, I was a doubter.

By accident I found a Maxfli noodle that was "balanced" The complete line around the ball was a dead give away... I hit it a good 15 maybe 20 yards longer. I had already owned the Check-Go but did not find it useful? Surprisingly when I used it on new Noodle balls it did make a difference! Balanced noodles are hotter than unbalanced Noodles ? I have tried it on other brands but without the same success. My guess is it adds about 5%, thus 10 yds per 200 yds reg drive. The longer the ball the more you see a difference. Roll does seem truer on putts as well. I have actually had straight putts stop with the line straight at the hole! Really freaks out the opposition!

I have one. I don't like it because it doesn't allow you to make a nice smooth line because of the high speed and the dimples. I have found that just putting a dot at the top (ie, side of the sweet spot) is a little less of an eyesore than a fat messed up line. Plus the dot usually makes a weird little astrological looking kind of mark.

    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
    • I had an interesting one yesterday, a local qualifier for the US Senior Open, at the Cascades Course at the Homestead.  Well, first things first, the VSGA arrnged for the officials to play the Cascades on Monday at the players' practice round rate.  Its lots of fun, rather old-style (built in the 1920s).  anyway, a player missed a short putt, and (apparently embarrassed) took a step to be ready to tap the ball back in.  The ball lipped out, and hit the player's foot.  I was nearby, and they waved me over, and asked "What do we do now?"  I was pretty sure of the ruling, but asked them to wait for a few seconds while i double-checked.  I did have it correct, even though its one of the more confusing rules in the book right now.  I'll leave the correct answer out for now, in case anyone wants to guess, or research it, and post their ruling.
