I've been seriously thinking about getting a ukulele. They just look so cool, and plus there quite unique. I don't know anybody thats ever played one. Plus I mean how cool does a guitar thats got 4 strings, and is 20" look. In my opinion, very cool. Has anybody every played one/is playing one?

Love the UKE! I used to have one but it got misplaced somewhere awhile ago. I play guitar and mandolin as well. In fact your post just reminded me that I need to go an get another one. They are so fun and easy to play. Sound great with another instrument playing along too.
GO GET ONE NOW!

My boss has his son taking lessons (he wants to play guitar) on the ukelele. He's always coming in with stories about the instructor playing AC/DC and stuff on it. Pretty cool......and now my boss is taking lessons too. lol

I always thought of ukelele's as toys until I saw this:

I've been playing Uke for a couple of years now, off and on. It's worth it to spend a little more and get a quality instrument than try and play one of the $30 models you see. It is a blast to play and is very portable. If you have big hands try and get a tenor or concert size as it will cause a lot less cramping.

That guy is an amazing ukulele player. He's sitting in Central Park, he should move to a more crowded area and busk a little, even though it doesn't look like he needs it at all! I'd toss in a couple of bucks :)

Some where over the rainbow on the uke is awesome. They seem really fun just to jam with.

a little tip. dont go to hawaii thinking the plastic 10 dollar ones are better than the authentic 100 dollar ones. :( big mistake they dont sound any bit as good as the real deal. beautiful instrument to play though

That's Jake Shimabokuro on the uke and he's a genius!!

Born and raised in Hawaii I took ukelele lessons in school....its true, its easier than the guitar cuz of only 4 strings.

I have a mandolin that I play occasionally.

If all you want to do is play enough to impress people at parties, then get yourself a chord book and pick up some sheet music of your favorite artist.

Since you already know what the songs are supposed to sound like, you will pick it up fairly quickly.

If you like that sort of music, Try doing a youtube search for a band called Great Big Sea.

On my tombstone: "If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'm doing just fine!"

    • #1. I rather lower my score by 3 instead of making an eagle... but a hole in one is a hole in one and I'm still didn't make one.
    • I'm available all of those weekends.   How do I vote?
    • Option one. Would like an ace even if it’s a worm burner. Have witnessed a couple of aces so would like to be on the other end.
    • OK - I think we should narrow down a weekend, and start there.  We're going to try to do this in June. I've created a Doodle poll where everyone can vote for the options that work for them.  Please include your username so I can track/post results. Doodle Doodle is the simplest way to schedule meetings with clients, colleagues, or friends. Find the best time for one-to-ones and team meetings with our user-friendly calendar tool. Get started today! (I only put in the Saturday dates, but assume the outing would include Friday - Sunday). Once we select a date that works for the most people, I'll start to line up courses and schedule and go from there.
