Now I'm talking about the actual grip on the putter, not your grip with your hands. I've heard rumors that fatter putter grips have a better feel. Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm looking to shave off some strokes

I actually switched to the Winn jumbo grip this week for my Ping Anser. I like it. Seems to help me keep my left wrist quiet. Made three par putts longer than six feet yesterday which is pretty good for me.

Thats really a personal thing, I dont belive there is really a "better" putter grip. Its what feels best to you. I havent experienced the jumbo grips but I would imagine they add more weight to the putter and make it feel clumpy. I prefer the skinny pingman grips because i can get the feeling better of my hands fingers and putter shaft being one if I have less obstruction.

I totally agree.

There is no better putter grip > just one that works best for you . Bigger/fatter grips are great for people who tend to collapse/break their wrists at some stage during the swing.

Your putting grip is obviously a personal choice, but here are some rules of thumb that might guide your decision.

-If you have trouble breaking your wrists, consider a larger grip. A bigger grip will inhibit wrist breakdown.
-From most reviews I have heard as well as mine, a smaller grip will create a better sense of distance control (this may or may not prove true to you)
-If a grip feels good to you but is too small, get it and have a few extra wraps of tape put in it. You will get both the right size and the right feel then.
-There are two main shapes of putter grips: pistol and paddle. The pistol gets larger in the back of the top hand, while a paddle grip is fairly constant in size all the way up.
-If you struggle with grip pressure or hand and wrist pain, consider a softer putter to fix that issue.

Best o luck finding a good grip.

Definately get fatter grips. They really give you more feel on the putting greenand if your are playing a tournament and there is a lot of pressure you won't tense up when you are putting and pull or push the ball. It keeps you're hands relaxed through your putting stroke.

tht sums it up. it makes the putter heavy and harder to swing in a rythmic stroke.
