So I was just watching him play on T.V and it looks like he is using an odyssey XG9 is this correct?

I really like it

He does use a #9, but not exactly . He uses something similar to the XG #9, but it's a tour issue type thing, and is made especially for Phil.

Here's what I play:

Oh okay so I need him to do a Charlie Hoffman and throw is putter in the lake and then swim in after it to get it.

Damn

It's the White Hot XG #9 but I believe it is customized specifically for him. Maybe the black series is more similar to his.

It'd be a lefty model, though.

Watching Phil put is like and instructional video to me. The guy gets his arms down there and gets over the ball. It helped me recently getting down lower and "lenghthening" my arms. Watching Phil sparked this change. Not sure about his putter model....looks like it has roots on the famed Wilson model (I tried one of those for a brief while.....results were ugly for me).

I believe it was 33 1/2" and now he's using a 35" putter. You know, because he "grew" an inch or two due to his stretching (i.e. he has slightly better posture now).

his is really just a blade wilson 8802 style. I switch between a yes sophia and a wilson forged special blade putter and they are both killer. I almost like the old wilson better... :)

No, it's not. I deleted your post the first time you said it because you're wrong. The quickest of web searches would have told you that, too.

Read it on Phil's site if you'd like.

Source: Phil Mickelson Why the move to a longer-shafted putter? I've known that I've become a half-inch, inch taller for a few years... through some of the stretching and stuff [but] I hadn't really made an adjustment to that. I just thought [after the Masters], 'Gosh, I'm not putting well and now is the time to make an adjustment if I'm going to go to a longer putter.' So when I came back and started working on it, I just started with a 35-inch putter rather than a 33 1/2

WOW, That is impressive work there. However in a sense we're both wrong. I played against Phil in college and at that time it was 29", no joke. Not trying to be a smartass-that is the truth

Uhm, your public profile here says you were born in 1985. That makes you 22. Phil was born in 1970. He's 38. You must have been quite the child prodigy to have played against Phil when you were four years old in college. Besides, you said "is" 29 inches. That's current tense, not past.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
