Currently using a set of cavity-backed Mizuno MX-19 s, but for the last 8 months, took out the 3, 5, 6 and 8 irons and replaced them with individual Titleist 695.MB s, which I now find I use way more than any of the Mizunos.
However, I feel it's time to get a full set (not neccessarily blades) of better quality irons.
I've shortliested the following (after demo-ing):
Nike Forged Blades
Titleist 695.MB
Titleist 690.MB

However, I've read that the TaylorMade rac MB TP and TP Forged are as good-a-feeling yet a tad more forgiving than those above.

If anyone's hit the above (TM) clubs, are they any easier?

What about mizuno, MP60 or 57's, nike forged blades may be too hard to hit, if your off 18, recomend a small forged cavity

I didn't find either the Nikes or Titleists hard to hit - maybe slightly shorter in yardage but that's about it.

Mizuno mp-57's maybe? They are semi cavity backs which give the control of a blade and the forgiveness of a cavity back. Try them all and decide from there.

Have a look at the 755's. I'm not pimping that club, however I do play them.

With the Titleist 695.MBs, I have no problem hitting the 6-irons and above pretty cleanly. Distance-wise, they aren't a problem for me and I can also manage a slight draw with them too.

With the 3-iron MB, I find that I can only nail it off the tee.....so I'm guessing the 4 and 5 might pose a prolem for me off the deck also. Obviously, I could just decide to get a full set of blade-type irons and just practice more with those 3 clubs. Bascially, all this thread is querying is something along the lines of 'are the Mizuno MP32/67s or TaylorMade rac TPs any harder or easier than the Titleists I'm using now' ?

Rich,

To answer both your questions:

1) The Taylormade RAC MB are the most smooth and softest MB I have ever hit. I play with MP32s, which I love, but the RAC just felt better.

2) Go with what you feel comfortable. Ultimately, it's your decision. My suggestion though is to demo as much as possible to eliminate doubt.

    • Day 82: mirror work again tonight. Working on the same shoulder down and roll and twist stuff. Going on vacation tomorrow and putting the clubs down, so new streak starts in about 10 days!
    • Day 44, June 17.  Today was some preliminary stretching, exploring what I'll want to set up as a regular routine (both while on vacation without clubs and when I'm back) (aside: this is part of an upcoming goal to stretch daily in a meaningful way, but I don't plan to count it as practice on days that I can meaningfully practice with a club)
    • Having a rough week. Went to the Dr. because I was really weak and could hardly swing my driver.  I take Propranolol 20 mg tablets twice a day. Seems like the Propranolol was driving my pulse down (low 50's).  So we cut the dosage in half and I started taking my blood pressure. It was a little high but pulse came up.   Then yesterday I raised it to 15 mg tab by taking it 3 times a day. Blood pressure 127 / 77 Pulse 75.  Heading out tomorrow morning for 18 holes.    I have my driver set at 10.5* but seem to have my swing speed to low and I can't get the lift on the ball I need.  I have not played this week in hopes I will have the strength to raise my swing speed. I may have to raise my loft to 12* . (I will take my driver wrench) tomorrow. (This Parkinson's is a pain in the butt.)  Will give you a report when I get back.    Retired Old Man, Terry
