I am seeing quite a few Fairway woods with steel shafts available...Dynamic gold etc. What are the pros/cons of a steel shaft in a fairway over a graphite?

Mainly better control, at the cost of less distance. That however is a generalisation as modern graphite shafts offer very good control and a range to suit almost any swing.

So do the makers supply them with a steel shaft to keep costs down or something? They seem to be cheaper than with graphite...

I find the best way to go is a Stiff Graphite shaft, not only do you get the accuracy from the stiffness but you get the distance from the graphite.

Thats what I usually hit. Just seeing a few TM Burner 3 woods available with the steel shafts fitted got me interested! I like the dynamic gold in my irons but not sure how they would feel with a fairway wood end on the end!
